If it was kept quiet, why was everyone in Monaco told?

And who was the whistle blower?

Someone mentioned earlier (and I have no idea who said it, and have nothing to back it up), that it was Mr Hamilton at the drivers briefing Saturday night....

Why would Pirelli ask Mercedes out of all the teams. It was obviously going to spark fury with Red Bull. They should have asked a back of the grid team...

... or maybe McLaren. :P

It's probably down to successful politicking. If Mercedes managed to exploit a shady loophole this way (and call it as 'helping Pirelli') all power to them, the rest can just suck it up and deal with it.

Too risky a strategy as they full well know how difficult the FIA can be.

If they managed to get a 'receipt' of 'permission purchase' they probably thought the risk is worth the reward...if they felt they'd be able to get far in understanding how to cure their issues. As of now we don't know if they did gain anything tho.

Pirelli likely didn't want to be seen to be interfering with the championship so avoided the big 4 (Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren & Lotus). Plus a smaller back of the grid team may not have had the resources to conduct a test session.

I sincerely apologise for writing something sensible. Please, feel free to go back to idle speculation and McLaren bashing.

Who's McLaren bashing?

Something sensible? RICH.

1. Red Bull / Renault 23 43 12 31 22 33 164
2. Ferrari 30 10 33 4 40 6 123
3. Lotus / Renault 26 14 20 33 18 1 112
4. Mercedes 10 27 15 12 8 37 109
5. Force India / Mercedes 10 -- 4 12 6 12 44
6. McLaren / Mercedes 2 2 10 9 6 8 37
7. Toro Rosso / Ferrari -- 1 6 -- 1 4 12

6 races does not make a season. 13 still to go.

Mercedes have been good so far this season but the past 3 have been below where they should have been. Plus, I think it's fair to say that McLaren will drag themselves towards the front of the grid.

How touching...even McLaren themselves have let go any idea of winning championships this season, but you still have faith...and you're not even a McLaren fan. Just anti-Mercedes I reckon.
