You guys are missing the point! That's exactly it: he doesn't have to prove anything anymore, so he's in it for the fun he was missing in the past 3 years. Any top placing would be just icing on the cake for him, so chill out and enjoy the ride

I don't enjoy watching legends struggle and I don't think Michael's idea of fun is being out qualified and out raced by his team mate.

Is he struggling? Ridiculous! He's doing quite okay for coming back after 3 years when the cars have changed as much as they have. Yes, he's one of the most competitive athletes in the world and would like to win, but that doesn't mean he's not enjoying himself when he doesn't!

Michael shouldn't have come back. He'll be competitive, he's done a good job; but i'm sure he's back to be great. And it will be a major challenge...

He's definitely enjoying though.. ie look at Barrichello last season. He enjoyed it, and Michael probably thought he could return to be in the fight as Barrichello was.... but like i said, i doubt the team (and himself) appointed themselves just for the 'enjoyment'.

Michael should not have retired. He should have stayed in Ferrari (ie instead of Kimi and retired now for Fernando) and to be honest, i think he would have won 2 WDCs or at least be in the fight. Now that would have been greatness. I think he got scared with Fernando going to Mclaren (which WOULD have produced greatly)...

All in all... we have lots to win, F1 as well from having MS back; Michael... lots to lose and a HUGE effort to win something greater than what he already achieved. But he'll have a blast (better than Watching Kimi eat ice cream in the Ferrari pit... thats for sure!).

Seen has Schui has insited on alot of things when he came back to F1 like he gets the higher number he gets to pick the side of the garage etc...

"Im hearing stories that he's beginning to complain that Nico is getting better service .........and if true that would be the first symptom that he's struggling. The problem is, if he's feeling that, he might begin to use his muscle-which I think would be a mistake and something that even Ross Brawn or Norbert Haug might find difficult to deal with." -Jackie Stewart on Schumacher

Oh no, here we go again!!

If your annual retainer is enough to purchase a small island, you have a responsibility to do more than just "have fun"

He does more - just explained it above. He's good for Mercedes' PR, selling cars, etc.

No that would have been boring, it was a complete bore fest with him dominating till his retirement, at least things have changed for the better since he retired, three diffrent champions in the time he has been away isnt a bad thing IMO

He's nothing special-but I guess he draws in the casual punters. So Bernie's happy. So all must be good :D

Thing is Nick Heidfeld is sitting there as the 3rd driver, who to be honest I reckon will match or even beat Rosberg so it makes Schumacher's pace look worse.

My opinion of Michael coming back remains the same, he should not have returned to the sport.

Argh. I try to forget Heidfeld's gone. :( And the worst of it all is that you're probably right. I could be seeing him fighting for the championship.

Driving an F1 car not quite as quickly as Nico Rosberg doesn't do £30 Million worth of PR, nor does it sell £30 Million worth of Mercedes Cars. Not even close. Besides which, they could have gotten tonnes of PR out of him just doing ads. He's paid £30 Million to be a racing driver. I can think of at least 4 drivers who are currently better and paid a lot less. In this economy, Schumacher's pay packet is obscene considering his performance.

Well, Mercedes apparently disagree with your opinion!
