The world champion who stayed at Honda for 7 years and wasn't offered a decent contract.

He did try and leave for Williams at one point...

He also left his girlfriend.

I think that it's fair that Ferrari demand Alonso be a team player... yes a drivers needs to go out for the win but he can not expect all resources to be used on him, that's why he had a tough time at McLaren, Renault had spoiled the Spaniard, giving him all the resources he could ever need, much to the detriment of his team mate!

To be fair....vettel hasn't been in the game that long...and if he doesn't win a DWC I will eat my shoes x

Saying that...is he at RBR for the team spirit or personal gain? I will put my money on the latter....he is surely as selfish as Alonso...but has the decoram (sp?) to know how to behave and get a team behind him to reach the goals he has in mind.

Decoram, correct :)

I totally disagree that Vettel is as selfish as Alonso. True, he hasn't been champion, but he's been bloody close and has the ability to be one.

Wrong - it's decorum!

The fact that SV doesn't have a manager to negotiate his contracts speaks volumes to the contrary of what you are insinuating.

Find me an F1 driver who doesn't posess that attitude?

Vettel?
Webber?
Sutil?

Any driver that has stuck with a team through thick & thin for the good of the team, rather then pushing their own agenda?

and which one of those has a world championship?

Vettel and Webber both did well this year. They were both in the "Top Group"

I love that my spelling has been corrected xx Thankyou xx

I am sensing I may have got off on the wrong foot here...my point is that I am thinking that you wouldn't succeed in something as 'pinacle' as F1 were you not motivated towards self satisfaction and gain. I don't see how Vettel not having a manager proves he is not selfish to some degree...It may prove the oppisite, he doesn't want to share his cash with a manger..thats self serving is it not? Looking after ones self is not always a bad thing either...I think that it has been taken as a negitive, we all look after ourselves to a certain degree.

F1 is cut throat and if you don't display that self nurturing to some degree then off you go, surely?

Ferrari are trying to control a particulaly strong and selfish character (2 times world champion), as I originally pointed out...is duckling the life out of Kimi not enough? This control freaking will only lead to demise....and the only way success was fruitful in the recent past (not always) was building the team around a driver/s...the most recent example being one of the most self serving drivers to ever grace the grid  Not that this should be the way it is done...and isn't done with other teams.

They are all the same in essence....out for themselves...its the level of understanding of team work and the self control that is displayed outwardly that determines the public perception.

I am not an expert.....its just the way I see it.

Re. SV not having a manager. If he had one, he'd have in all likelihood a higher paying contract. Not having a negotiator on your behalf in my view shows that it is not all that important to him and he simply wants to race and have the right conditions to do so.
