I feel for Rubens because he was so very close but such is sport. He will imho go down as a truelly great driver aswell as teammate but I feel the latter will be his burden to carry. He drove superbly this season and that is how I see it and will remember his '09 season.

The closest he came to being the bride:

It's nice to see some humanity from Schumacher's fans. After all, it was Schumacher who helped to ensure Barrichello would underachieve.

As F1 careers go; Rubens has had a successful career, lived in the shadow of his team mates too much, he certainly suffered under Jean Todt at Ferrari. This season at Brawn he simply wasn't quick enough compared to his team mate, Rubens lost the championship in the first half of the season. Look at the head to head in the first seven races.

RB - 2 5 4 5 2 2 R

Hopefully things will change for Rubens next year when he joins Williams - unless Hulkenberg shows him up like Hamilton did to Alonso.

You're welcome

In answer to your previous question - anywhere. It may sound drastic, but if it was impossible for him to win at Ferrari, he stood no lesser chance elsewhere. See who's interested and hope for a 'Brawn Moment'. When he did find one, he wasn't good enough.

Nice guy, great driver, but never a champion.

I'm not so sure I agree. Outside of McLaren and Ferrari, there was very little chance of winning races. Being Schumacher's doormat can't have been easy, but at least he picked up nine wins, which is close to nine more than he would have got elsewhere.

He stood more chance of winning races at Ferrari, but less chance of winning titles. It was worth the risk of moving to another team as number one, regardless of whether it paid off or not.

He either now knows he was never good enough, or equally bad, regrets not having given himself the opportunities to find out.

He will never be champiom, even if he gets the best car.
But we have to consider how unlucky he is.

I can easily remember 9 things that screw up with him this season:

1) Australia, Anti-Stall.
2) Malaysia, Gearbox change.
3- Spain, strategy error, the issue about Button being favoured with the 2 stops strategy against the 3 stops strategy of Rubens.
4- Turkey, Anti-Stall + engine problems.
5- Germany, second strategy error. He started in 2nd and passed Webber at the start. The team choose 3 stops strategy for both drivers, but the team took so much time at his first stop so he got stucked behind Massa who had Kers. At his second stop, the problem with the fuel hose. At his third stop the team called Button before and the positions were switched.
6- Hungary, Massa's spring. He had to abort the qualifying and started in 13º
7- Belgium, Anti-Stall.
8- Singapore, Anti-Stall during the pit stop + gearbox change.
9- Brazil, Puncture.

Maybe in another reincarnation, Rubinho.

Over one season, you can suffer from the rub of the green. But over a career, you make your own luck.

I like Rubens think hes a great guy, but he simply isn't good enough to become champion.
If Brazil is going to have a champion in the next few years I think it will be Massa, can't see it being the messiah's nephew either.

Then again some said that about Jenson.

Rubens is much like a number of drivers over the history of F1. For me it is all to do with circumstance.

Let's use Coulthard as an example. He could have been a world champion had he not had Hakkinen and Schumacher in top class cars alongside him at the sametime.

Yeah I know what your saying Ewen, but theres always someone about. There is normally multi world champions on the grid at any time.To my memory there has always been except from after four races in 1994 when there wasn't even a champion on the grid.
