It may not be the classic Lotus team we all admired back in the days, but Lotus is Lotus... and I hope the Malaysians remember this and give the car a nice, classic "Lotus Green" livery.

Car looks to be coming along nicely, they have all winter to further develop the car so we'll leave the rest to Gazza and his Norfolk crew.

If Williams went bust then 10 years later someone from Abu Dubai bought the name would it be Williams?

Knowing Sir Frank he would make sure that anybody reviving the team no matter when would be contractually obliged to use the Williams name.

Well i think there's a law that means you can only hold a name for so many years without using it before you have to sell it on.

But anyway hypothetically if someone did that would you accept it as Williams?

Well I think it would depend on how the team was being set up, if they were based in Grove at the current facilities or Didcot etc then yes. If the team was entirely based in Abu Dhabi and I mean EVERYTHING, then maybe not.

But I would rather cross that bridge when I came to it, I know the Malaysians want Lotus to be entirely based in Malaysia eventually but planning is one thing, putting it into action is another.

here's more pictures. It looks pretty good to me, the front wing looks pretty crazy.

It kind of reminds me of the Toyota and Force India front wings... and these are teams that Gascoyne was part of previously. :hehe:

Those side pods need to get a bit slimmer but it looks pretty well advanced for an 2010 car maybe all the 2010 cars will have fatter side pods due to the new fuel regulations.

Yeah i think youre right there, I think it was in F1 racing they compared a 2009 to a 2010, car and they are predicting bigger bulges behind the driver around the engine cover or even side pods.

* The front wing looks like a "snow shovel"
* They have even built the driver!
* The driver is in a black tie...nice!! :sickman:

Lotus was the team I supported way back in the days of Jim Clark, who was my boyhood hero.
This new team will become part of the history eventually, and I wish them well.

The world is so very different now and so is F1.
Back in the sixties it was much more a sport than a business, although it was used to promote vehicle related products then. The cars main liveries being based on the country of origin with very little or discrete logos.
It would be nice if the new car has some reference to the names history in its colour scheme, but the aim of the team is to promote Malaysia's technological achievements to a wider world..

More power to them, it's great to have more cars on the grid

Now, if they only decided to run the JPS livery (with other sponsors of course) :cloud9:

They could use johnnie walker black label colours...
It's very similar:

In this case because it's logical: alcohol and condoms go well together, and the color scheme is similar
