ontopic i think this is more of WIlliams trying to get on the FIAs good books, Cosworth should have the same rules as the others. I mean why not let the 3 new teams use 08 spec rear wings because Aero wise they will be playing catch up too

I don't think so, I wouldn't call downplaying the FIA's own spec engine a favour to Mad Max and his cronies.

Why does no one ever talk about buying BMW engine

Anyways, Patrick Head may say they are no advantage, but I'm know there are others within the paddock who would greatly disagree with that. But considering that they bottom 3 should be well of the pace, I'm not overly worried. Just as long as Cosworth are running V8's come 2011, or 2012 at the very very latest.

Because the BMW engine is the 3/4th best might see it in one of the newer teams.

Engines Ranking would be

1. Merc
2. Ferrari
3. Renault
4. BMW

Yes, I agree with this list. BMW had the most powerful engine back in 2002 and 2003, but nowadays BMW isn't that powerful. And, Renault isn't much better than BMW. Although, Renault had obviously pretty good engine, Red Bull is the best team at the moment. And, it's not all about the aerodynamics, it's about engine also.

BMW is the noisiest.

:hehe: Doesn't really help you win races unless you want to deafen all the other drivers in free practice throwing off their equilibrium!

I'd agree, Williams are only stating the obvious.

The BMW engine isn't exactly the most reliable either...

 Your right there. So much for Swiss-German precision

Yeah, Kubica is going through engines faster than Elvis Presley ate burgers.

:P I hope he just doesn't need the toilet anytime soon.

Yeah the BMW sounds awful when it down shifts!

Sounds awesome in the upshifts though... i spent the whole of one FP session this year deciding which were my favourite sounding engines. Oddly enough the best sounding engines are the worst (and vice versa!) :)

If he decides to leave BMW at the end of the year I don't think it'll be "Hey! ThankYaVeryMuch!!" as he leaves the factory, nor will Dr Theissen be in the mood to say "Elvis hast left der building!" :hehe:

Merc... almost sounds tinny imo, compared to the others. Ferrari and Toyota don't sound all too great either, Renault sounds decent enough if i remember rightly. To be fair, none of the modern V8's actually sound that good compared to a lot of other cars/engines so it's all relative!
