Oh right, March
Mosley, Akagi, Rees, Coaker Herd
Can't believe that I actually spotted that :hehe:

Akagi was not part of the original crew that founded March - they used both initials of Alan Rees to complete the acronym.

so March are entering and basically everyone will have Cosworth engines... Sounds like the early 1970s to me! Imo, it we are going to have a standard customer engine, it should be a Matra or Ferrari 12 cylinder just so it sounds good

I don't know what you're talking about, there's been a March in every year that I can remember!

No, not that I remember. I always miss March due to hibernation.

Yeah, I was thinking just the same about the late 1960s and '70s. Partly because of that, I'm not too worried about Cosworth's future role in Formula One, so long as it's not compulsory to have a customer engine.

I dunno, i'm not a fan of those early 1970s grids where all the cars sound the same. I don't particularly like the Cosworth DFV either...

yup the power delivery is harsh and they don't sound anywhere near as nice as the contemporary Maserati, BRM, Ferrari, Matra, Serenissima or even Repco engines

Many teams running the same engines was not ideal, but was the much lesser evil. At least then Formula One had a pioneering and innovative spirit, the grid was full, and with people passionate about Grand Prix racing.

It was much less business-like.

If March get the nod over teams like Pro-Drive (Aston Martin), USF1 and Lolo then Mosley probably is corrupt as Racechick has suggested in another thread. The places should be given to the teams that have infrastructure in place and a realistic chance of making it to the grid next year, which are USF1, Pro-Drive and Lola, I just hope that these teams won't be using Cosworth engines, let's face it Cosworth haven't exactly made a competitive F1 engine in recent years.

Ahh, true cosworth have not made a competitive engine in recent years. But don't forget about the engine freeze. It means the FIA will no doubt make sure that the cosworth package is up to scratch, whilst the other teams still aren't developing their engines.

I had completely forgotten about the engine freeze; but surely the FIA won't know what to compare to; unless the other engine manufacturers have their engines frozen earlier than Cosworth; which would be wholly unfair to the non-Cosworth teams!

Engines have been frozen for a couple years (more or less). All Cosworth will have to do is match the specs and the FIA will have a look at the output profile to compare with the other engines.
