If any of the 'classic' tracks should have stayed, just for nostalgia reasons then that track must surely be Nürburgring. From a 'race' point of view Monaco is the worst track in terms of overtaking drama, I agree it takes a certain skill to be quick aqround the circuit.

In the sixties when concerns over the safety of classic tracks such as Spa and the Nurburgring began to gather momentum, Monaco was considered quite safe due to the slower speeds. The reason it's stayed is because of the money but it is worthy of its position.

My personal favourite is the old Spa...

Qualifying was more interesting than the race, especially after Barichello nailed Kimi into turn 1.

and yes, next year will be terrilble with no refueling. at all tracks but especially this one. keep it because its monaco, and its interesting and all this history and glamour and the challenge.

but only have 1 monaco, we dont want any more boring no-overtaking tracks, 1 is enough so get rid of valencia and places like that.

I dont think the race was boring. There is little overtaking and Brawn is dominating, so of course the winner was somewhat obvious. Also, without the elements of nature there was no lottery...
But had Brawn not been so far ahead everyone, the fight would have been totally different... and even then, anything could have happened; it would have taken a very simple mistake by the Brawns when their options were degrading and the result would have been completely different.

The fight between Massa, Vettel and Rosberg was really good. And the fight for the last pts positions was interesting enough. One thing is to think Monaco is boring because overtaking is impossible and another is actually realising the conditions these guys are driving in...

 for Monaco!

It needs keeping but its rarely a good race. That said, there are plenty of tracks that are rarely a good race that do not need keeping.
And good race or not its on my list of GP's to 'do'.

For me, F1 is about the cars and drivers, not glitz and glamour. It's only as the money started to come in to F1 from TV and sponsors that those elements entered. And to be honest, the playboy images of the drivers has gone anyway, now that drivers have to be superfit athletes, they are all in bed by 10pm, not nightclubbing and taking home 3 birds each for a night of umpalumpa and drugs, unless you are kimi of course :)

There was always glamour about racing long before the mass media. I agree that drivers are hardly the James Hunt type any more, but most of the top drivers are A list celebrities.

If the Valencia race proves boring this year, I wouldn't mind seeing it removed from the calendar. I think Singapore is much better anyway and even if it doesn't provide massive amounts of excitement, the fact that it is a night race as well does add something to the atmosphere. And you have to admit, the cars do look good under the lights :)

Yeah. Valencia needs to be much better this year, otherwise I'd like to see it axed. The biggest criticism levelled at Formula One is that there is little on-track action, so there is no place for bland circuits.

I also like Singapore. Like Monaco and street races (which Singapore is, too, of course), I see night races as a novelty and feel they should be kept unique. Street races have become habitual now, so have lost a lot of their appeal; let's hope Ecclestone doesn't ruin night races as well.

i agree with what Mclaren fan is saying i did like Singapoore but Valencia being another street style race was rubbish and i agree it needs to go

i don't like the idea of a race though paris or London because although it will be a spectacal it won't be a race.

Monaco; the so called Jewel in the Crown of F1; I find the races there generally very uninteresting to watch; should it be on the calendar? depends on what you want from F1; I almost see Monaco as a very expensive car show. But there are other tracks that are much like that; Hungary springs to mind.

If they took Monaco away (which won't happen) I'd like to see the Nurburgring Nordschleife added to the calendar; that'll add some spice to F1 racing!
