By adding green tyre markings.

People keep saying formula 1 is not as interesting. Well what about the last 3 seasons. Especially the last 2. Was the finale at Brazil not exciting enough.

I think if you want more exciting racing, in terms of overtaking. Well thats what being done. The cars are now different, and should allow easier overtaking.

Adding green tyre markers has got nothing to do with what I meant and everything with you trying to be smart arse. It's true that the past couple of seasons have produced exciting title fights, but there's more to Formula One than that. As I said, the sport is about technical innovation and is meant to be relevant (in at least some way) to road cars. The levels of innovation and relevancy has completely dried up in recent times, which is why high-profile people such as Adrian Newey are bored with the sport. Formula One revamping its engine regulations, for example, would spice up the show for engineers and help provide at least some solutions for a couple of the biggest issues for humanity.

^^Seriously. It would help if thats what I'm complaining about. I'm not

Yes, but your trying to bring the argument about a lack of technical innovations, when the fact is, no one is arguing with that. Yes, there has been a lack of innovation and difference between the cars, which is now changing with the 09 regulations. I don't disagree with changing the engine formula either. But that's completely and utterly off-topic here. What I'm saying is, rather than add green tyre markings to create an image, why not actually do something involving the environment.

Although, in terms of making the F1 cars greener, I don't think that's the way to go. Most of the Co2 emissions in F1 come from travel, and the enormous amounts of fuel used transporting equipment, cars, people etc all across the world, via Planes, Lorries and Cars.

Yeah, how about planting a tree for every mile an F1 car drives on a race weekend. Let's start with the sterile greens on the race tracks - FFS, F1 is not golf! :banghead: And thereby make it more interesting re. accidents and spinning off the track - you never know whether there's that one tree that will give you a huge headache :P

I was responding to Jag Racing's comment about Formula One continuing in the same vain for ever.

I do agree with you that green tyre markings is a pretty pointless act, but I don't agree with you about Formula One not looking into green technologies. Completely setting aside the reasons for climate change, it's the smart thing to do. Fossil fuels won't last for ever a lot of the places were they come from aren't exactly best buddies with the West, nor do I feel that humans should not some Armageddon scenario to look after the planet. Formula One needs to be technically innovative and relevant to the automotive industry as a whole. Formula One should take the opportunity to progress and change the long-time stagnant regulations. Finally, I agree that there's an issue in how Formula One travels, transports equipment etc. That is something that needs looked into as well.

Last years looked terrbile.

I suggest that if we find the 1 person on the planet that actually thinks a bit of green paint on a some racing tyres makes the company that produced them more environmently friendly & put that person out of our misery.

Actually I know who it is that thinks this way, his namwe is Mosely, Max Mosley & we should beat him with baseball bats until he stops being silly/breathing, whichever come 1st.

Nah, he'd probably enjoyed that too much.

Would be a story for the newspapers though, and a nother reason to get rid of him.

I dont mind the green marking. Its not ugly and it serves its purpose... is F1 more environmentaly friendly because of it? No. but i dont think F1 is presuming to be just because their cars have green stripes on the tires.

On the evolutionary thing, i definitely agree that F1 must evolve. Be it the engine formula, the fuel, in the way they manage limited resources... its definitely the way the world is moving, or at least has to move, so F1 should have something to show for the 'forward thinking' they constantly advertise.

And it'd contrast better too
