The Red Bull was fastest first time out. Now thats promising no matter what way you look at it.

On the other hand, I'm thinking Renault may have gotten things completely wrong this year. Aside from the car looking awful, they look slow as well. Either that, or Piquet is gonna be worse than last year.

I'm thinking that, too. Newey's car was the fastest (though not most reliable) when the last set of major changes came about in 1998. I would not be surprised if the same thing happened this year. We've already seen some impressive speed from it, as well as the gearbox causing some problems :P

As for Renault, that chunky nose could pay off if they've spotted something that the other teams haven't. I can't say I'm expecting it to go, however it could indeed be a ploy, seeing as there are at least two images on the Renault site showing the car with a regular-style front wing. One of them is here: http://www.ing-renaultf1.com/en/_2009/t ... interview/

So who knows?

Edit: Seeing as I didn't think it worth making a thread about, here are the Bahrain testing times.

Pos Driver Team Time Laps
1. Glock Toyota (B) 1:33.501 82
2. Massa Ferrari (B) 1:33.615 98
3. Kubica BMW-Sauber (B) 1:33.702 95

They're all looking good. Nice to see that Glock is leading at the moment :)

Nice comparison: the Toro Rosso looks like a beauty (and it's not!) compared to all the other fuglies
Nevertheless it's interesting to see every team's interpretation of the new rules.

Sandstorm settings please
Image

Awesome! Could they run a GP if that happened during the Bahrain race weekend? I'd suspect not... unless bridgestone makes some sort of sand tyre... aka Tank Tread?

They'd also have to change the safety car due to the conditions. Here's a suggestion...

an interesting diffuser layout, merged with the rear wing. no wonder they were trying to hide it from those telescopic lens' at the launch.

Sandstorms in Bahrain. That backfired a bit, did it not. Honestly, the teams have had awful weather lately.

Webber did 84 laps today. Geez, the guys eager. But all the same, proves that he should be fine for Melbourne.

Green stripped tyres, again. They looked awful in Fuji and they look awful now. Give it up, and stopping giving us this green eco crap. Adding a green stripe to the tyres is not helping the environment. Get white stripes back on them now.

Also, whats up with McLaren running the 08 rear wing again

Nakajima did an entire race simulation today and the FW31 is still running soundly and reliably. But as I keep saying to myself lately, I am not going to get carried away by any good pace it has shown until the first race of the season.
