How about one of the younger retired drivers? At least we would then have someone who understands the intricate nature of F1 and hopefully would not just be interested in the financial gain?

hidden meaning there - jean toldt can f*** off.

pardon your French :hehe: but i agree, Dennis is putting this out there for a reason.

Yes he is and I'm also very curious as to when his BBC special 'Ron Dennis Parts the Red Sea' will be televised?

sorry Tex i take it you want someone who used to run an F1 team to govern the FIA? not sure on why youre being such a sausage especially to Longbow

1. First of all I have said on numerous occasions that someone affiliated with a F1 team should not head the FIA and that Sir Jackie Stewart would be a great choice imo also. :)

2. Secondly I'm not being a sausage to Longbow just voicing my outlook of which I'm also entitled too.

Once again Tex your line of reasoning and mine part company. What on earth is that comment all about.

Our line of reasoning has never met so why start now :D ? Oh and my comments meaning should be very obvious to you and everyone else, I thought you were a pro at reading between the lines?

Maybe to you it does but I cannot control your way of thinking, atleast not yet!

I've only been saying this for years.

I agree that Stewart would make for a good chief. :)

I've said this before. Whereas Jackie would do a good job he is too old to take it over now and I'm sure he wouldn't.

He has nothing to prove, 3 time World Champion - one of the Greats... argubly the best of British. (Though I think his Scottish compatriot Clark just pips him to that).
Successful Commentator and broadcaster, safety campaigner.
Ran a successful F1 team - sold it for Profit, Ran a number of Successful Junior Teams leading to the establishment of names such as Franchitti, Coulthard, De Ferran etc.
Successful businessman, owner of an estate in Bonnie Glasgow.
And all starting from the humbling beginnings of a Dumbartonshire Petrol Station.

:D

And How could I forget he done all that, battling Dyslexia. As you all know, a condition only recently taken serious.
A Truely Remarkable Man. One of Scotland's greatest exports.
Take that Sean Connery :hehe:

Our line of reasoning has never met so why start now :D ? Oh and my comments meaning should be veryto an F1 team obvious to you and everyone else, I thought you were a pro at reading between the lines?

I wouldnt say Im a pro at reading between the lines,But it was actually your lines i couldnt understand not the bits in between!
Your comments were obvious??????????? Ron gave his views on a person closely affiliated to an F1 team becoming head of the FIA; and from that you are eagerly awaiting the BBC 's release of a film where he parts the Red Sea a la Moses.
Nope you've got me there Tex.

Maybe it is a conflict of American and British/UK or whatever sense of humour? Sometimes I miss the punchline, sarcasm or intended humour in a post just as you have, no harm no foul right? :)
#89118
why hide behind the humour gap, it was obvious you were calling Ron a deity but none of us now why, especially when you say you agree with him  its like theres two tex's using the one account

I do not hide from anything or anyone I thought you would have realized that by now.

Perfect example of the meaning of my last post, no comprehension or the willingness to understand, it is easier to take offense than to try to understand someone else's outlook. :(

tex

PS,
I still luv ya though man! :P

Yah I figured you would like that  .

Now back to the topic I have never even considered Ron to be interested in replacing Max. As I mentioned before we all have discussed this and we are all in agreement that it should be an outsider so to speak. Sir Jackie is imho the best choice because he knows F1 inside and out and he is a very astute businessman.

No tex i was being sarcastic, i didn't think it was funny sorry yet again we are divided by the fact i'm British and your not

I'm sorry i really am but you have to be born in the UK to be British and it not fair that we allow other people to join out gig because then it wouldn't be as cool to be British or even be part of the commonwealth like Oz is.

Anyway.

I think ron's main point in all that was that its not a good idea for the likes of Jean Toldt who was sniffing around for FIA head a few months back to be in charge since he will be bais even RD admits that he would of been bais should he get that job.

stewart was only a team owner for a short time and is all about safty so i think he would be the best choice yea.

F1 Racing this month hinted at Gerhard Berger as a possible candidate; now i haven't given much thought to it yet, but he has dealt with pretty much every major team at some point in his career for starters (driver at McLaren, Ferrari and Benetton, also worked with BMW and RBR/STR...), plus he's still relatively young.

That was my take aswell.

Stop the presses have we actually found something we agree on? :P

I have been a huge Berger fan since his days with Benetton in 1986 and now that he does not have a personal/financial stake in STR he may verywell be a good candidate.

Gerhard as FIA president would be excellent. He knows how to have "proper" fun and thanks to his years at Toro Rosso he knows how success can be achieved with little money and resources, so he'd be the perfect man to try and reduce the costs in F1 today.
