While I have no doubt Ferrari will have the exhausts within the regulations well before Melbourne, it does seem to have been a bit of a sloppy oversight.

Tex, dunno if it was something I said but it wasn't meant that way. What I was meaning was that it's something all teams have done/do and the new regs are to combat that so in reply to the post of it not being a big deal, it might be to some.

A third team has expressed concern about the questionable legality of Ferrari's newly launched F1 car ahead of the forthcoming season.

It has been reported that the F60 specification launched at Mugello, and currently testing at the same circuit near Florence, features exterior rear exhaust outlets that contravene the new technical regulations.

Mercedes' Norbert Haug and BMW's Walter Riedl have backed the report, and now the technical chief of a third team has announced his similar concern.

"The Ferrari has a few illegal features, like the exhaust pipe," Toyota's chassis technical boss Pascal Vasselon is quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We expect that to change as it is outside the regulations," the Frenchman confirmed.

I wonder what the other few pieces are that he talks of...

heres some of the 09 cars exhausts

makes you wonder how Ferrari could have made such an oversight

It will be interesting to compare the F60 launch version with the car that finally arrives in Melbourne. Seems they are setting themselves up to have to do more work in the limited testing period than starting with a "legal" spec car. Surely once they cover the exhausts with carbon fibre it will affect the aerodynamics of the car? Only 64 days to go!

well they will have to do that, but that may have an affect on the cooling, they could also shorten the exhaust but that could have an affect on the power.

as you say 64 days to go not much time to sort it out.

I'm not questioning it's validity I know it's bs just asking why you bothered?

Because it's fun and I can and I find it amusing to counter the the thing's that are said against my team just as you do.

well the mp4 24's legallity hasn't been questioned, the f60's has so deal with it

You hit the nail on the head Longbow, jeez you lot are a sensitive bunch but I'll send flower's first before my next stirring session ok :D. Honestly I'm told all the time by bud that I missed the humour and/or sarcasm in a post yet the roles have been reversed this time.

The car can't be "illegal" until the races start. In testing they can do whatever they want, within safety limits.

The Torro Rosso car is "illegal" too. But no-one says anything about that.

I've heard that the McLaren car is illegal before they add the engine. Way below minimum weight. Cheating McLaren b'stards.
