His age is irrelevant. Hamilton is hit it "big time" last season and things are only going to get bigger. Hamilton stands to become the most highly paid sportsman ever. To say you don't professional help on some matters is risible. I'm not saying Hamilton should get rid of dad - far from it - but he should also consider drafting in somebody with a bit of expertise on some matters.

I don't think Hamilton should push away his dad. Anthony Hamilton has made a lot of sacrifices for his son, so it would be completely ungrateful. That said, there are times when you think that if Hamilton had somebody professional working for him, a lot of the media gaffes etc. would not have happened. Hamilton should keep his dad on board, but he needs to drop into the background a little bit more and accept he needs professional help on a couple of matters.

There was a period in the middle of this season where you were very critical of Anthony Hamilton, where you really couldn't stand him; just wondering why you felt that way at the time, and also what he's done to prompt the change in heart?

I find the way Anthony Hamilton conducts himself very impressive; he clearly has great confidence in his son's abilities, but you can always sense his nervousness before a race. He seems like a genuine guy, and I particularly liked the compliments he made to 'Mr Massa' (senior) after Interlagos. I think the support and strong nucleus that Lewis has around him in the form of his family is one of the key components to his success.

Maybe. But Anthony is a canny businessman and a fast leaner and Lewis will never have to question where his loyalty lies. It'd be good to see the two do it without the sharks and hangers on.

Nothing wrong with that I think. Anthony has given up a lot and spent a lot of money to get Lewis where he is and if he wants to run the show then I think he has earned the right. So if he pays himself an extortionate salary and use the money to buy (and subsequently crash :D ) expensive cars then I say more power to him!

Oh no, of course there isn't a problem in that - look at the Calzaghe's in boxing.

And racechick - yes he did - he wanted to prove he had what it takes, so took a Porsche for a spin...

Anthony should enter the race of champions - see what he's really made of.

Saying that I couldn't stand him is going too far. I respect the sacrifices that he has made for son and that Hamilton family are a close-knit unit, but a time comes when a father has to step back slightly. For me, Anthony Hamilton is just too visible. As I've said before, Lewis Hamilton is in Formula One now. He was already pretty much a global superstar, and certainly is now, and with this comes intense media scrutiny. Anthony cannot manage Lewis' career himself. Like I've also said, there have been several embarrassing media gaffes since Lewis has been in Formula One, and somebody with expertise in P.R. could have seen to it that these red-faced moments never happened, or, if they did happen, limited the damaging effects. I can only conclude that Anthony is just too arrogant to realise he can't manage everything all of the time or is living his own dreams through his son. It's time for him to step out of the limelight - but not necessarily out of the picture.

There were only two media gaffes if thats what you call them.
1. Pulling out of the Button bet and as Anthony said Lewis was in championship contention and could not afford an injury for the sake of a school boy challenge. Common sense not a gaffe.
2 Flying in Turkey. Yes he looked daft but he laughed about it himself. Any damage done to his image? No. He has the possibility to make more than any sports person ever.

Thanks for getting back to me. I know it's a bit late now but for what it is worth, why have a professional? It's not like the media can have any influence on what he does on track. I don't see how having a professional manager would help him.
