The trouble what the thread is that people are posting articles from tabloids etc.. Like many, I think Hamilton can be too cocky for his own good, but we've got to the stage now where there is so many lies written about Hamilton you don't know what is and isn't true. Take the infamous "I'm as good as Senna" article. After all the flak Hamilton took for this, it turned out to be completely false: Hamilton did not compare himself to Senna at all.

Aparently he has said he will never beat Schumi's records.

I support Mclaren, I am a team supporter. Of course I am HAPPY that Lewis won the WDC because to me, Mclaren won it as well.

He drives for my team, I cheer him on, if he left Mclaren, I wouldn't follow him to another.

I don't understand why it all has to be so complicated...you either have a good reason for not liking him..or you like him....my mum doesn't like him because "there's something about him" i.e. He is confident, because he is good at what he does...what is he supposed to do?say "nah,i'm poo..." ?
I agree that in some circumstances it's jealousy, but i can also understand how if you're not keen on him, it can get annoying having him "force fed" to us...but he is British and we're supposed to support him because of that. I think its a real shame, and really old fashioned that some people in some countries don't like Lewis because he's black, and i think the Spanish should be repremanded for their absolutely disgusting behaviour towards him.

Why everybody hate Lewis? Simple, he's good. All F1 drivers some people hates. Just like Schumi., He's one hell fine drivers but, I really hate him because of he's not my favorite team. Then that's BIAS for me. So, all of us has our own opinion and has right to say "Who you hate the most"! For me Ayrton Senna is GOD when is comes to F1. That's all folks.

And there it is folks. Of course it's not just that, but let's face it, nobody minds a Heikki or Button. Ayrton himself was hardly revered by the other drivers of his time, and outright despised by a couple. Sure sure, persoanlities and perceptions and biases play a part of it but had he fallen flat these last two years and been promising but nothing special - Hamilton would get a lot more positive press from his critics. The fact that he's exceeded most peoples' expectations just makes it a more bitter pill to swallow.

Yes yes, one of the top 2 teams is great and an opportunity many haven't been afforded (or rather earned). However, the downside is; almost zero time to sit and struggle. No two or three season learning curve for him in the middle of the pack. He had to come in and produce from day one. The fact he's managed to do so and do it so well in his first 2 years at this level, impresses the hell out of me. Talk about handling pressure.

Sorry guys, but I am a newbie to F1 as I started watching F1 beginning of last year's season. My question to you guys is, why do so many people HATE Lewis? What did he do so wrong for people not to like him. He almost won the championship as a rookie last year. Isn't that considered phenomenal? Am I missing something here? I read these threads seeing how people feel how bad he is, but my eyes see's he is really good. Just like the race where Lewis was in 12th and kimi was behind Lewis and Lewis crept up on everyone in the rain while kimi stay behind. Is that not good? He did a really good job this season racing kimi when lewis cut the shacane, drop back behind kimi, and took kimi's position. Isn't that considered a good driver? PLEASE let me know if I am missing something cause it looks clear to me. Thx!!!

I know it is a huge shock when you find out the cynicism of the internet. I was exactly the same when I started visiting message boards and what not. People are just jealous and cynical.

There is one point that I think that all F1 fans will agree on though. How could we ever get "fed up" with seeing his girlfriend???? More of her and less of Anthony Hamilton I say...

I really couldn't give a toss about the teams. The drivers are the people and the personalities, not the teams. I would love Felipe to win a title, but I don't care who it is with for example.

i get the same thing, people say, why do u support fernando?

i have to explain how i dont support fernando as such but renault, and i like having him in the team cause he helped renault win 2 championships, and, while ive been watching, havent won before or since

if he left for ferrari, i would want him to get many dnfs, but i do like having him in the tem cause hes good, id have lewis in the team cause hes good, i wanted np to do well caus he drives for renault, etc

When I wear my McLaren stuff, people ask am I a Hamilton fan? It pisses me off! I'm a McLaren fan! I've been supporting the team since the days of Senna! As far as I'm concerned, Hamilton is just another employee of McLaren. Formula One is a team sport: you win and lose together as a team. It's about symbiosis. Hamilton's drivers' title is the culmination of several thousand people's work; and winning the constructors' title is consequence of having two drivers who get the best out of the equipment they are given.

I think it has alot to do with life so take work for example, when you have worked somewhere for years and a newbie rides in and school's most of the 'old timers'. Lewis is a phenom and nothing but a true blessing to F1 as a whole imho but too many people read too much into it to satisfy their own self esteem and/or ego. Also alot of it, as we have mentioned many many times before, is that Lewis came into one of the top two team's and actually has a car/team where he can showcase his true talent.

In lamens term's there will alway's be someone looking for a scapegoat and in '07-'08 it was Lewis.

Well said, Yes! admit I am a Lewis Hamilton fan, BUT I dont go complaining or start making hateful comments about another person...Thats what competitive sports is

I dunno entirely. I can certainly understand why many Alonso fans, in Spain and elsewhere, aren't too fond of him. Basically the same thing were said of Schumi by a fair number of Dill fans way back when. That rivalry was short lived but the displeasure at Schumi lasted a while. Maybe a minority of so called fans, in whichever country, let the colour of his skin cloud their judgement but I think vast majority aren't particular fans for other reasons.

Maybe that's me being naive though.
