When you think the italian press were calling for him to be sacked early in the season, he's come a long, long way. I don't feel sorry for him - No one should. He's proved himself to be a great, great driver, proved himself to be worthy of a top F1 drive (which was by no means the consensus not that long ago) and I think he's proved to himself that he genuinely has it within him to win a world championship, which will help him next time round.
But I think most of all he's shown himself to be a great great human being. He had all the pressure in the world on his shoulders, but did all that he could do, took pole and won magnificently. And when it wasn't quite enough, he took it like a man and a good sportsman and was gracious in defeat.
