The problem with the halo as seen on the Ferrari is that it's not a full protection structure, there is potential for debris or a piece of equipment to come from the left or right of center and still hit the driver. If we are to proceed with the cockpit protection systems, we need to have an aircraft style canopy which would deflect an impact absolutely.

I think this is the right way to go also. Similar perhaps to the Red Bull idea:

That would offer better protection, but it's still open, the drivers head is still slightly above the structure based upon the graphics. I still feel it's not needed at all, the incidents we've had are usually freak accidents. Every driver accepts that motorsport is inherently dangerous when they step in the car. I'm all for improving safety, but I think H&S goes too far with this, F1 is moving closer and closer to prototype racing in design, what next cover the wheels up to avoid contact with wings and tyres?

Yeah - about the wiper: In F1 I expect some development work in that department culminating in the BWC-HRU
or Brain Wave Controlled - Hydro Repelling Unit.
