His crash certainly was a big one and i hope he recovers soon.

Nice to hear good old Jarno paid him a visit! :)

Jarno T has always been one of Formula 1's nice guys.

Nick Heidfeld has been to see him too. He has a couple of hairline fractures in his right ankle. However, it is possible that he can race in America as he still has until Thursday to be passed fit. Robert is now out of hospital, but he has to stay off his right leg until he is assessed again.

Sid Watkins will probably make him do a Schumacher, and tell him to jump off an Armco barrier - only if he doesn't fall down in pain will he be allowed to drive.

A close up on Kubica in the car at the end of the crash, you can see his feet appearing were obviously were the nose was. Like Zanardi in 01 but of course, not the same outcome afterwards.

what, so now the news is the leg is miraculously no longer broken? Sid must be one helluva doctor!

Professor Sid Watkins? He retired a few years ago. A great loss to F1. And yes, he was one helluva doctor!

Robert saw a Polish doctor today. He went back to hospital today for a scan on his ankle. He can't put much weight on it yet, and he has it heavily strapped, but he may be able to drive the race. I think Sid would say no way though

The risk of a serious injury to his brain in a potential next (even minor) shunt would be too great - the FIA docs won't allow him to start so soon afterwards.

true if he was concussed even a minor concussion he wont be allowed to risk another so soon after

Yeah can you imagine if there was permanent damage, sponsors would be up for a massive damages bill, although I'm sure drivers have to sign something...

Which gets me thinking, do drivers have medical insurance? I'm sure they couldn't call MBF and say "Yes I would like comprehensive medical insurance please, I drive cars at speeds up to 300kmh for a living"...

to be expected. They want him more involved anyway, now that his Friday drive has been scrapped.
