To be honest Jabberwocky, I can't really fault my experiences so far in both the Pool and the Fantasy League. You've all done a fantastic job in keeping us entertained, so I trust that whatever you come up with next will be pretty fine.

I'll sleep on it, if you really want me to. But it's late now and I can't think of much more to say.

Just a thought but what about having the money making and team selection something like the fantasy league but then also having something along the lines of the pool but using your team members for the scoring of championship points?

We could simply continue to develop the pool.

Someone suggested a while back last year that a way we could do the pool and add more skill while removing the randomness of it would be to delete points for how far from a position you are. So if you pick Alonso to win and he does you get those 25 points. But if he comes in second, then you get 7 points subtracted from your 25 points. If he comes in third, then you get 10 points subtracted etc... If he DNFs then you lose all 25 points. This way if you pick a driver for 4th and he comes in 3rd then you get three points deducted from your 12 points and you wind up with five.

We'd have to decide whether we go into negative numbers, meaning you could lose points, meaning if you pick someone to come in 5th and the come in 1st then you'd give up your ten points plus five, going negative 5 points for that pick. In the end, as long as you're in the general vicinity for drivers and your don't have a lot of DNFs in your top points picks, there would be more reward for simply being in "the neighborhood" with your picks.

That would be cool, one problem with the negative scoring would be DNFs. Maybe not using the F1 scoring and doing something like 5 pts for a prediction in the right place, 2 pts for a prediction 1 place out and 1 pnt for a prediction 2 places out, with the places counted either direction. (or multiply the points the driver scored by those values)

There's gonna be lots of ways of doing it but you've got the data for the picks this year to run through and see how the results would look.

Yeah, I thought about the negative points aspect of it but we could put a bottom to it and have it be that the most you can lose for a position is what that position is worth. So you can't lose more than 10 points for picking someone for fifth place. Or you can't lose more than 18 points for picking someone in second place. there aren't too many negative point situations though outside of picking someone to com in 9th and the come in 2nd type of thing. Which if we're going for more skill than luck, it wouldn't be very skilled of a pick to be THAT far off.

My own suggestion on the pool, i thought i might be good to predict the top 10 as now, but instead, you get points based on how close you are. 5 pts spot on, 2pts one place out, 1pt two places out. 5 pts for pole and fastest lap guesses. And perhaps on top just for kicks you have to predict two randomly chosen finishing places not in the top 10, e.g. predict who'll finish 14th, and 19th. So you'd have to predict things pre quali, which makes it a little more interesting... you could even expand to having to predict who'll get into Q3. The options really are endless.

I do enjoy the pool as it is, but i think it is basically only about scoring good points for the top 3, the predicitions where it is really hard is further down the top 10 but you get jack all reward for making good picks there.

As for a fantasy league, if you guys want to work to create your own go for it, but it's such a monumental amount of work (you gotta do the graphics and everything!) i think you might be pushed to get something out for next season of sufficient quality, and having had enough proper testing done on everything. Just my opinion mind. It'd be amazing if you pulled it off though, it would be a huge, huge boost to forumula1.com to have something as exclusive as that to go along the forum and news. To my knowledge only autosport.com offers a similarly wide range of things....

I am gonna start speaking to the guys at fantasysportf1 (on behalf of us lot, as the person who set that up here) to try to help them improve and tweak that regardless though.
