Tell you who was lucky - Fernando Alonso.

He wasnt very good tbh.

He couldn't help his car appears to be terrible, furthermore his trip through the gravel wouldn't have helped.

I disagree. Just looking at the onboard views, you can see that Lewis' car handles well, although it's slow. Fernando's car is all over the place, and still slow.

Thats intersting! In the thread "Pace of cars AFTER the Australian GP ", you said the opposite. You had Renault ahead of McLaren as did most other posters.

I did not post my opinion in that thread, merely the speed order as told by the lap times at Melbourne. If you go to the FIA site and look at the lap chart, you'll see where my list came from.

Based on the kind of lap times each team was setting during the race.

That's what I said.

Base on Qualifying an Race pace what do you think the standing is at the moment?

That's what Longbow asked. And I based my post purely on the times being set by each car.

Renault have never ever been the same since the mass damper incident. The switch to Bridgestones also hurt them, but I thought they had recovered by the end of last year.
The car just looks like a handful. Alonso isn't helped with such a clutz as a team mate. Furthermore, I think the concerns over Renaults future, and budget cuts have distracted the team. They've moved away from windtunnel into more Computer based development, they think it'll work. If it does it'll take time. Maybe too long to attain the services of Mr Alonso :(

You'd be surprised just how much niggly things such as you've said which are not directly related to the car etc. affect a team's performance. At McLaren from 2000 to 2006 all kinds of rumblings were happening off track, hence the team serially underperformed.

Would it not?

Sent him towards the back of the pack, also the gravel in the radiators wouldn't have helped much.

It would have done wonders for the coplexity of his skin.

What happened to Massa's car?

Something to do with the steering and suspension.

Kimi's car had a differential probelm. Strange reliability issues for Ferrari at Oz. Usually we see the odd engine blow-out, but these are different than usual. Might be KERS related, or the Ferrari's just a fragile car. Who knows.

Will this impact reliability for Malaysia? HMM
