Was it just luck or was someone holding off the Safety car for Jenson to pit!

The first safety car?

EDIT: TBH I think it was just the stewards being retarded. They took forever to deploy it, and they took forever to get rid of it.

It seemed like it came out late and in wrong position, and that race control didn't notice that Button was still P1.

During the beginning the safety car basically let the whole crowd pass it, waving them from the window, when it looked that home drivers were hesitating to pass it. Of course after that SC stayed on ages after the circuit was cleared, which cooled down the tyres, and caused some difficulties again.

Somehow race control seemed to be a bit rusty after the break, not to mention the TV broadcast, which seemed to miss quite a few important moments. I assume it is the same broadcast globally.

No I think the same! Charlie Whiting loves Jens and Ross I think he helped them out! But it would have been wrong if anybody but Jenson won the race so maybe a good call by the stewards for a change!

That SC period was really weird and long. But like you said, at least it didn't upset the outcome. I think with the SC coming out 2x, things could have gone much worse.

I think they were waiting to deploy it for the leader, but they completely stuffed up.

Yes it was a complete stuffup the way it was handled but only those 'in the know' know why. I think JB's pace would have still gotten him the win but lets just hope the PC matter is sorted for the rest of the season.

In some ways there is some justice in the weird deployment of the safety cars. Button lost his comfortable lead. And if the safety car had been released earlier, JB would have lost a lot more tyre temperature and pressure than the pursuing pack, and could have lost his lead. But the SC stayed around so long, that those following would have lost much of that advantage.

I don't think the stewards were trying to help Button though. I agree with the previous comments that they weren't on the ball yesterday.

Cars should win without help or favouritism whoever the car and whoever the person dishing out favours. That way lies corruption and a continuation of the rule of Max. Jens needed no favours to get that win, it was deserved. Truely hope he wasnt 'helped'.
