Vettel and Kubica's incident was pretty frustrating for their fans because:

Neither driver would give an inch. Vettel IMHO should have let Kubica Pass. Kubica IMHO should have waited for a straight because he had plenty of time. They both were at fault for being impatient. Kubica had the grip whereas Vettel didn't. Two different compounds.

As long as the stewards didn't penalize Vettel because of this I am ok. But if they start sticking there nose into every race incident and try to impose 25 seconds or 10 spot grids because obviously someone was on the wrong compound, I will get infuriated. It has not happened, but I could see it coming.

I believe Vettel was penalised in this case for continuing to steam up the inside even though he braked early - which likely led Kubica to believe he was yielding.

That said, I think the pair of them were being incredibly reckless

Only bringing two compounds saves costs. Forcing them to race both keeps racing close.

They could bring two compounds that are more suited to the track.

Well, at least somebody got my point. A tire that is only good for 2 or 3 laps is NOT suited to the track. Why not make them drive with one eye closed for a stint as well? We'd probably get the same results...

That's something like I was thinking they would do next pondering this silly rule to artificially create a show. At least we know what Bernie does in his spare time! (let's see, odd laps with one hand only on wheel (the other should be waving to the crowds), uhhhh, one pit a race the drivers themselves have to do the tire change, uhhh, at the same time the race is going on a massive bingo game is being held with the entire track crowd, winner gets the driver of his choice moved up 3 places on the grid (great for audience participation) uhhhhh etc etc ).....

I think Vettel was penalized for continuing to drive on three tires after the stewards told him to pull over, or so the TV said. I agree that the pair were being reckless but at the same time competative. One driver has to give and vettel wrong for not yeilding knowing his tires were going off, and Robert trying his move way to early are just very competative. They both lacked in this race, discression. Bringing the car home with points should have been a priority... a close second priority. Winning being the first.

Well, i was just about to write that having neither compound working well being stupid. However, after thinking about it for a bit, seeing Kubica hunt down Vettle on the wrong tires, and seeing Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen charging through the pack, but then being on the wrong tyre was great tv. I still think that the soft tire should at least last a few laps longer. 6 laps in nowhere near long enough, and i don't agree that making it hard for the teams is just a little shit. Not having either tire working just stinks a bit of rubbish.

Long ago the race was more pure. Today rules are made to shake things up, because they aren't shaking themselves up naturally. All they care about is increasing the specatacle, which translates into $$ for Bernie. This is at the expense of pure sport, which they obviously don't care about. I don't really mind the current rules but OTOH I wouldn't mind them keeping their fingers off the track. In a way they are causing artificial change to the outcome of the championship.

In these times where the FIA is slashing team budgets and purposely tell Bridgestone make the two sets of tires so differently, that is criminal. I would say the soft tires were a major factor for Kimi's wreck and replacing carbon fiber parts isn't cheap. Has it dawned on Max and Bernie that increasing the spectacle in such fashion could create unintended consequences.

I say just let the teams make the decision and let them run both if they like or just one. We all know how a tracks condition due to temp etc etc can vary greatly during a race. I view it as a death blow to team strategy.
