Watching the Kubica Vettle incident, it appear after the collision they were both capable of making it back to get another front wing. But they both went off like they were driving on ice. The front end downforce was totally gone. Under 2008 set up they would have made it back easy in my estimate. I think this is something that the teams should look at closely when it come to losing a front end in a pile up. It makes it just that more a little difficult to have a recovery for a decent race.

Looks like Brawn already thought of that, as well as some way to change the nose quickly.

I was just thinking they way that last years car was set up they could at least drive it back to the pits under some reasonable speed. Since there is way more downforce on the front end this year, I was thinking it became undriveable if you lose the wing. Basically slow down and drive at 20 mph vs 60 mph.

The reason why it was still stable last year is because aerodynamic appendages on the body of the car were allowed. If you lost you wing, downforce was still generated elsewhere. With the new regs, downforce is generated by the wings exclusively, so if you lose one you're screwed.

Exactly... Teams if they haven't already, need to take that into account. Tell their drivers to slow down.
