Okay, lets be fair on Jonathon Legard as it's only his first GP, but the signs were not good for him. He sounds unenthusiastic, and kept getting himself in a muddle. I mean, I remember when he commentated for Radio Five Live, and I never got a sense of enthusiasm from him.

James Allen however was booted off TV because of a shameful witch hunt on the internet. He did not deserve the abuse he got. And although he's no Murray Walker, he's easily the second best after Murray in terms of motorsport commentating. I grew up listening to Allen (I caught Murray Walker's last season - 2001) and not once did I find him irritating. Sure, he might have been prone to a bit of bias towards the British drivers, but what sane British individual wouldn't? And if anyone doubts his knowledge towards the sport, read his very informative blog he regularly updates.

It's a real shame he's not on TV anymore, but those who forced him off only have themselves to blame if Jonathon Legard keeps going the way he does.

Anyway, sign the petition to get him back on TV.

Legard has not got off to a great start, but just because he is not as good as we expected does not mean that Allen was worthy of his job. Allen is a knowledgeable guy, but he has got nobody to blame but himself for getting axed because of his overpowering bias.

Legard wasn't as good as I expected. But He was far better today in the race. Hopefully its a case of building up chemistry with Brundle.

He seemed a lot more contained and let Brundle do some more talking. That can only be a good sign... Eddie Jordan on the other hand :D

Wasn't too keen on either Legard or Jordan, however I think they might just need a few races to settle into their roles.

As for bringing James Allen back...please, no

Really? I think Jordan was a good man, he did good interviewing Branson? Spite the swearing from Branson ;) but I think James Allen brought a good vibe to F1!!!!

I'm hoping Legard is just finding his feet and he'll get better at reading the race and the data from the monitors which is something Allen was good at as well as having a lot of knowledge but I still don't want him back.

I would like Allen back, his enthusiasm makes good commentry.

I think it's his enthusiasm that put me off him, I thought is sounded too forced and not really his nature.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I thought Legie was great. At least give him a few races to settle into it, and into his pairing with Martin.

As for James, he's a much better journalist than commentator, so I want him to stay doing what he's doing now. His Blog is simply one of the finest F1 info sources out there.

Eddie Jordan gets worse every time he's shown. If he doesn't buck up his ideas, he'll be lucky to make it to 2010

He really irked me today - he kept interrupting and making unnecessary comments IMO and just seemed to waffle for *ages*. But, as I said, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt as I think it might take a couple of races for the team to gel properly :)
