Apparently there are supposed to be 2 tethers that attach from the wheel hubs to the chassis but they often break on high impact crashes when tangled up in suspension :S

Yes, but the FIA have tried to cull this from happening over the past few years. Last thing we'd want is a wheel flying off goodness where.

Yeah I agree F1 wheels flying off can be extremely dangerous a lot of people have been killed by them. They should look at making them stronger because I don't think the regulations on wheel tethers have been changed since 2001.

Yes, it seems to me that if Kubica had just left Vettel some room, both would have continued on and finished the race. Unfortunately, Vettel admitted guilt, so they pounced on him. If he had kept his mouth shut, the stewards would have been forced to make the judgement call, and it probably would have turned out better for Vettel.

Well, I do think Kubica was too aggressive, but Kubica had the race line thought the corner, there was nothing for Vettel to do but slow down, and let Kubica go.

I'm so pissed too, because I stayed up all night to watch this race, and then I see Vettel take out Kubica. Vettel admitted the mistake, and glad to see him get a penalty.

But hey, that's the way racing is. Next week Malaysia.

WHAT?! You can't slow down at the Apex of a turn! If he had, he would have spun into Kubica and been at fault. The only possible way that Vettel could have avoided Kubica's dive, is if he would have dove over the curb which was impossible because his suspension was already at full load. Kubica, sitting on the outside, had complete control of the situation. He used that control to ruin Vettel's season opener.

I think the exact same thing. The minute Vettel admitted he was guilty he was also going to get into trouble eventhough it was Kubica's fault.

I agree... you can't back off mid-corner if you have nowhere to go. Some have implied Vettel should have conceded the corner but if he was leading going into the corner... you don't concede until the other driver ahead... and at that point, there was nowhere to go... I like Kubica, but he didn't leave enough room for himself to make the move. We've seen dices in the past where 2 drivers battle it out for 2-3 corners in a row wheel to wheel... but that only happens when you leave each other room to pull off your own move.
