I fail to see what Kubica did wrong apart from being a tad impatient perhaps.

As Brundle said post race, R.K could have moved over slightly to the left there-fore avoiding a collision, thousands of pounds worth of damage and valuable championship points

Sorry people but the ITV link supplied here says nothing about any punishment for Kubica & nor can I find any mention of 1.

I have found mention of a 10 place penalty for Vettel & a fine of 50,000 dollars for him/his team though -

http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3 ... 43,00.html &/or http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_ ... t_id=37367 - for example

i wonder who made that decision?

Maybe Bernie?

He wasn't there. Nor would he, he isn't a steward

The fine for Red Bull is justified, they wanted Vettel to carry on spreading debris etc al round the circuit. Should have been more IMO.

10 places on the grid for him sounds a little harsh until you factor in what Kubica lost & then it's ok.

I'll agree, that's about my assessment too.

Somebody has pointed out to me that the tethers were not still attached to the tyres on Kubica's car after his crash. I had thought that the most likely explanation was that they had been detached at the join to the chassis, but it would appear not to be the case. Is anybody able to find any high-resolution images of the area where he crashed to show all the debris?

The wheel came off its tether. And was dangerously bouncing around.

Thanks. I've squinted at the replay a few times now and you can actually see the tether is still attached to the car and it flaps around a little as the car comes to a halt. They must get that fixed very soon.

PS: I have no idea how that "a" got there either.

Well, I do think Kubica was too aggressive, but Kubica had the race line thought the corner, there was nothing for Vettel to do but slow down, and let Kubica go.

I'm so pissed too, because I stayed up all night to watch this race, and then I see Vettel take out Kubica. Vettel admitted the mistake, and glad to see him get a penalty.

But hey, that's the way racing is. Next week Malaysia.

some clarification...

"As a result the stewards have additionally fined him - and Red Bull Racing - US$50,000 for continuing to drive a damaged car." - grid penatly was for allowing RK to give him nowhere to go...

also...
"The German driver's Red Bull team was also fined $50,000 for instructing Vettel to stay on track despite running on three wheels." - he was following "questionable" team orders...

that said... being a fan of both RK and SV... RK should have set him up to pass right after the corner or gone wide enough to make the corner pass work... a shame because both deserved a podium...
