its just a slighty downgraded version on mclaren merceds engine........but concidering how hard every1 has worked at brawn/honda i think they should keep brawn gp and best of luck to them :)

Is there any evidence that the Mercedes engine in the Brawn, or the Force India is downgraded. Just because McLaren have used the Merc engine for over a decade and a half, does that mean they must get preferential treatment? Isn't it in Mercedes' interest to give all their clients the best, for the sake of their own success?

brawn i dont think i wrote that..

oops. I have edited the post now. school boy error.

Thats cool, its 4am for me so I could have made the same mistake.. :hehe:

Perhaps the fact that Merc own some equity in McLaren is persuading some people that McLaren is a works team.

That said, there's no reason they shouldnt supply all the Merc teams with the same engine - might even cost less that way, rather than having to build more than 1 spec. It's not like they are constantly developing the engines now is it?

OK, so if the team becomes Virgin, does that make it another new team. i.e. this doesn't count as Honda so they didn't get the prize money from last year. If the team changes after race 1 will they lose their constructor's points from tomorrow?

Also, do you think anyone at Honda is feeling a wee bit stupid right now?! They coulkd be sat with Honda cars first and second on the grid, which is the point when their forumla 1 investment would have started paying!

Possibly a little. But there's no saying that they'd be 1-2 on the grid if they were using a Honda engine, as someone already pointed out. They would still be doing far better than previous seasons, possibly a top 5 team and regularly in the points. But Honda made their decision, no point looking back, and although there must be a lot of bad feelings amongst the many people who got laid off due to their exit, there's probably a small sense of pride that they contributed to a car that is outperforming absolutely everybody at the moment.
