Brawn were 1-2 in every session. It was a complete lock-out. Unless they hit reliability probelms tommorrow they are going to romp of into the sunset.

Williams aren't really back though. Rosberg did a fantastic job, but we seen the same thing last year. Melbourne is an extremely good track for them. However, this season is so different theres a chance they may not drop of the feild. We'll just have to wait and see.

Red Bull were by far the surprise of the day. The car has just got so much grip and both drivers seem able to just push and push. Vettel 3rd and I'm happy enough.

As for KERS, we have Massa Kimi, Lewis Kovy and Heidfeld using it. The system will provide a massive boost of the start. McLaren might not get a great start though seeing as they're lacking all this grip. But Ferrari and Heidfeld will be ones to watch into turn 1. Cars starting that much quicker could causes unsighted probelms and crashes.

Also, hopefully the F1 site will publish the car weights soon enough. I'm pretty anxious to see them now.

People realise Ecclestone was right and Mclaren were sandbaging as Lewis goes 2 secs faster than everyone else.

Sets the Pole with ease and wins the race by 2 laps.

*ahem*

First time since 1970 that a new team on the block got pole for the first race (JS in a March in Kyalami).

Was a March back then just a renamed team or were they truelly a new team?

i am happy for Vettel , Brawn , and a bit for Ferrari

Mclaren, better luck next time!
Maybe Hamboy might pull off one of those GP2 moves storming to the front of the grid from the end, yea?

Vettel has potential FOR SURE.

all in all, VERY GOOD qualifying session.
Did anybody manage to get a screenshot when they showed the rev/speed/kers display? i thought that looked pretty nice, with the blue for rev's and the battery for KERS

Looks like both Ferrari and McLaren are crap for now. Don't know if the defusers on those Brawn, Williams and Toyoota cars will be allowed and if they will get away with it after Malayasia but if they are legal why dont both Ferrari and McLaren just use them as well. Judging by todays times if Ferrari had had them they could of easily been on pole now, or close to it?

The only way the diffusers will be banned if the FIA seem it illegal which I don't see why it was the F1 stewards decision to deem them legal or not seeing as they don't make the rules( sorry if I'm missing something obvious here  ) but yes I'm sure the other teams wil use them if they are legal after the Appeal after all it seems just sour grapes that for once the big guns are one step behind.Having said that all it's all a load of rubbish blame everything on this and assume these others cars would be as fast and it's not just the fact that they have fast cars ????

*Sigh*

Hamilton starting from the back of the grid after a gearbox change. Starting behind a Toro Rosso, two Force Indias and Nelson Piquet. There is going to be a collision.

I think that KERS must be hurting teams bad. Ferrari, McLaren, and Renault were all front-running teams last year. McLaren and Ferrari dicing for the championships, Alonso being the highest point-scorer for the latter part of the season. Now all of those teams are struggling. Even if you take away the diffusers, RBR and BMW still had one driver each ahead.

I think it is the amount of effort that Renault, Ferrari and McLaren put into developing their 2008 cars right up until the last race which has hurt them most.
