- 28 Mar 09, 08:00#97989Well it went exactly as I suspected yesterday, with Brawn coming through to be scrapping for pole between them. (I did mention that I thought this would happen yesterday!
).
What I really didn't see coming was the performance of the Red Bull's. I had high hopes for them when their car was first unveiled, but not much expectation after testing.
I don't like to see any car fall away from the front such as McLaren or Ferrari, (as Williams did for a number of years) but it's great for F1 to have other teams fighting it out for pole for a change.
Mclaren and Renault are really struggling, its depressing from a fans p.o.v.
However in the wider scheme of things, today's result is amazing for F1. Just what we need after the points scoring farse, the uncertainty over Brawn and the points system uproar. Today has brought the headlines back on the racing!
Hopefully that can last until the end of tomorrow at least!
Absolutely. As I said, I don't like to see any successful team fall away from the front. On a plus point however, in spite of the indications from testing, which suggested as much as six seconds between first and last place at one stage, there really isn't
all that much between the field. Just over one second between first and tenth from memory, and the top end of the grid seemed to be constantly changing throughout every session. Once again I think this could be a season where multiple teams are on the podium.
