Cars without KERS seems to be dominating in Oz at the moment - what are the chances that KERS gets taken out of the cars before tomorrow?

Ok, still not sure that it would even out the new diffusers but the gap might be reduced & we might get a race out of it - the current advanatge Williams etc have is just plain silly - close racing will be out of the window.

KERS will give an advantage to a team if they can run it either at the race start or preventing someone from overtaking you the rest of the time it will probably just cancel out the weight penalty of carrying it.

I thought Williams were running KERS? Their system is different to all the other teams' systems though - a mechanical flywheel instead of an electronic system.

I read somewhere that they said they were leaving it at home for the Oz race.

At the start they will need to get past 4 to 8 other cars just get into the points & I don't think the KERS start is quite that effective. As for keeping people behind them - all well & good when you are defending a decent points scoring position but when you haven't got the pace to get there it's pointless having it.

I don't know about you but i think Ferrari will be about P 5 or 6 on the grid and Antony Davidson reckons that KERS car can make up 2 rows over a non KERS car at the start of a race.

I'm starting to lean against KERS a little. To me it has not provided the value that we were told it would. It is causing a lot of changes in the form of saftey.

I have not ruled it out because it has not raced yet. We should be able to tell over the next 3 or 4 races if it is actually worth it..

Maybe even as soon as Sunday, if the KERS cars start flying past others on the straights!

The faster cars are 1 to 1.5 secs a lap faster so the KERS runners have no hope of of getting close enough to overtake.

I don't think the gap will be as large as a second per a lap but I think the Toyota or Williams could run KERS next weekend I believe they both have operational KERS devices imagine if they had their pace plus KERS for that speed off the line and to help stop people overtaking them.

It's a second a lap at present, more if you are a McLaren driver.

I think Williams may just be a couple of tenths off BGP and I doubt that Ferrari are a second off the pace yes McLaren will most likely be at the back of the grid but McLaren are not the only team with KERS Ferrari, Renault and BMW have KERS do you truly believe they will all be a second off the pace? If Williams have got the pace near to BGP and if they had KERS fitted they could easily win.

I don't think Ferrari will be far off the pace, and the fact that the Renaults and McLarens are basically crap cars anyway doesn't help. Not sure what BMW's issues are either, but that isn't KERS based as Kubica isn't even running it...

Calls for KERS to be abandoned are premature. It's a tricky thing to get to grips with, granted, but that's tough. The teams were given enough warning about it, and if they didn't feel they were ready to use it yet, had the chance of postponing it for another year. I guess it's a feature of the modern world, whereby if something is too difficult, you just drop it.

I never liked the isea of the KERS system to start with. I haven't been to keen on most of the rule changes this year, will be inetresting to see how qualifying goes though.
