There is a 2009 supergrid in autosport based on the Barcelona test 2 weeks ago. It involved a lot of complicated calculations :confused: It looked at the times of every day. Each driver's position was calculated from the100% baseline representing the fastest time. These were converted into a relative distance. Anyway the outcomes were interesting. The Brawn's clearly ahead of the field. I realise some cars have improved since then but what i found really intersting was looking at the relative performance of teammates. Here is the result and next to the name is the distance back from the leader on the above calculations.
1. Rubens o.oom
2.Jenson +12.73m
3.Nico +53.73m
4. Timo +73.8m
5. felipe +78.68m
6. Kubica +81.79m
7.Kimi +87.93m
8. Nick +89.45
9.Vettel +104.53m
10.Alonso +110.10m
11.Lewis +123.09m
12.Nakajima +125.50m
13.Trulli +127.40m
14. Buemi +132.21m
15. Fisichella +134.24m
16. Webber +153.37m
17.Bourdais +171.24m
18.piquet +173.33m
19.Sutil +184.22m
20.Heikki +194.17

Some suprises there. Heiki plum last!!

I took the figures and worked out which drivers were closest to their team-mates and which performed much better.
This list stars with the driver who most outperformed his team-mate and finishes with the closest pairing (rounded up diferential in brackets)
Lewis(71)
Nico (71)
Alonso (63)
Glock (53)
Fisi (50)
Vettel (49)
Buemi (39)
Rubens (13)
Massa (9)
Kubica (7)

Some unsuprising results there-lewis and Alonso well ahead of teammates.
Ferrari drivers close.
But I was suprised to see Vettel that far ahead of Webber, perhaps he's still not race fit.
I was also suprised to see Heidfeld so close to Kubica-closest driver pairing! Now presumably thats without KERS, so that will be interesting.

I find that Nico being that far ahead is a surprise to

Yes, ahead but not that far.

yes...very surprising that NH is so close to RK...NH is a good driver but RK (who for me is the second best driver in the grid) is much faster !!

Interesing the three teams we would assume to be in the strongest position at this stage, Brawn, Ferrari and BMW, have teammates who are closer together on the track. Lets hope for some good inter-team battles as well as intra-team battles.

Yes, ahead but not that far.

I would really like to see Nakajima closer to Nico this year, and have both of the Williams cars in the top 10 week in week out. His biggest weakness last year was lack of experience on most of the tracks, hence why he qualified much higher up at Valenci-yawn and Singapore.
