Anyone know what time the quali and race will be shown on BBC? I know its later than usual but don't know by how much.

Qualifying is at 5AM on BBC 1 Saturday, replayed at 1PM same day, same channel.
Race is at 6AM on BBC1 Sunday, replayed at 1PM same bat-day, same bat-channel.
Highlights are at 7PM on BBC3 Sunday

Don't forget that we go from Daylight savings to British Summer time during the weekend. Thats why the race starts an hour l8er then quali, cause the times gone forward

Your British Summer time IS commonly referred to as Daylight Savings time - that's the whole point

Srry about that confused myself. The point was though that the clocks go forwards on Sunday 29th in the UK.

NEWS!
Something here I didn't know. They've raised the pit lane speed limit. Odd that they'd do that, and that no one seems to have even mentioned it.

James Allen wrote it in his Blog today.
He flags up two things which will influence the racing this year; the raising of the pit lane speed limit to 100km/h, which will make pit stops faster and the freeing up of safety car rules ( you can come in when you want).

Toyota targets podium in Australia

By Pablo Elizalde Monday, March 23rd 2009, 09:35 GMT

The Toyota team is aiming to start the season on the podium in Australia, says team president John Howett, as the Japanese squad begins the campaign full of optimism.

"This is a big season for our team and we have set ourselves high targets," said Howett in a team preview ahead of this week's first grand prix of the year.

"We exist to win so that is clearly the aim this season and we have every reason to be optimistic after our extremely positive testing results.

"This is our eighth season in Formula 1 and we have learnt a lot in that time; we are leaner, more experienced and better equipped to succeed.

"Our drivers are a great asset to us this season; Jarno has huge experience and everyone knows he is tremendously fast while Timo is an explosive young driver who showed his great potential last year. So 2009 is a big opportunity for our team and we are determined to make the most of it.

"We have been on the podium in the past in Australia and I would like to see us there again this weekend."

The team has been showing strong pace in testing with its TF109 and start the season as one of the favourites to fight near the front.

Italian Jarno Trulli admitted he has never felt so good driving a Toyota F1 car, and the Pescaran cannot hide his excitement ahead of the first race.

"I am totally fired up for this season and I am feeling very positive about our chances," said the Italian. "The TF109 is the best Toyota I have driven in pre-season testing; it feels stable and gives the driver confidence but more importantly it seems to be pretty quick, even though it's hard to make too many judgements based on testing.

"We made a big step last year, proving we can fight for podiums and finish regularly in the top six so I am hoping for another step forward this year.

"We have more experience now and the team has worked really hard for a long time on the TF109 - we are ready for the season and I am raring to go."

Raikkonen not making predictions

By Pablo Elizalde Monday, March 23rd 2009, 12:15 GMT

Kimi Raikkonen is not making any predictions for the Australian Grand Prix, but the Finn is hopeful his Ferrari team will be very competitive in the season-opener.

"It's difficult making predictions, considering the many rule changes this year," said Raikkonen on Monday.

"Ferrari was very competitive during the tests; but we'll do the F60's counter-check at Melbourne, when we'll all meet in the race with the same fuel at the same time.

"Only then we'll see how strong we are and maybe we've got to wait for a couple of races to have a clearer situation.

"When things go well you're having more fun, but we still haven't raced this year, so it's really a bit too early to say anything. We hope that everything will be the way we expect it to be," added the 2007 world champion.

Raikkonen endured a difficult season last year, being unable to defend his title as he felt the car did not suit to his driving style.

The Ferrari driver admits he feels more comfortable in this year's F60 and is looking to make the most of it in Australia.

"I can confirm that I like the F60 more than last year's car. It's much more fun to drive and it reminds me more of the cars I was used to some year ago," he said.

"It's always a good thing for a driver and a team to have a good start into the season, especially when we remember how the last two seasons ended as far as the drivers' championship is concerned: I won with one point in 2007 and my teammate was one point short in 2008.

"That means that every point counts. Two years ago I won in Australia, while we had several problems last year. Our goal is to immediately gain some good points."
