Williams seem to have really managed to make a 1 stop strategy work really well this year, it's got Wurz from way down the grid to points positions and the podium at Monaco and Montreal, and today Rosberg was about to get his car to 6th before that horrible engine failure after starting 14th and generally wasn't too far off the pace of the pack infront of him in the early stages of the race, so it appears to me the Williams car really does appear to be the best car to run this strategy with. What more could they possibly reap out of it?

Plus, any engine problems can be blamed on Toyota. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

It's not just the car, it's also where they are as a team in relation to their competition that lends itself to go for the one-stop strategy. They're not fighting for the victory like the top teams, but they're fast enough in Q1 and Q2 with empty tanks to make it consistently into Q3 unlike some other midfielders. Thus, they usually start in the first third of the grid, which seems ideal for one-stoppers because you don't have slowpokes in front of you that slow you down too much.

The car's not too far off the pace of the BMW's and have been scrapping with McLarens and Ferraris this season and not looked too shabby either especially when 1 stopping. Perhaps one day they might be able to 1 stop their way back to the top?
