Problem is, it's hard to say whether the bigger factor is that the car is improving or that the track is, especially when you consider how much rubber must've been put down on the circuit by now. Hmm... :scratchchin:

Edit: i see this point has also been made above, nevermind ^^^

Weather conditions have also improved somewhat. There was less wind today and yesterday than there was earlier in the week and I think temperatures have risen a little, too. It's a shame that the other teams weren't testing these past two days, because then we might have gathered some extra insight in to how McLaren are really progressing.

I so wish Lewis was in the car today..

Me too. Heikki's time was third fastest of any at the Jerez test all week! (I think) Where would Lewis have been? Sounds like a lot of improvement, thouigh I take your point about comparing Like times with like times.

I believe I remember one that fit that description. The name is also familiar. The two could very well be linked.

It's looking like tyre degradation problems, though.

Yeah, that's been one problem so far. The MP4-24 is pretty harsh on its rear tyres. Whilst the car still won't likely be fast enough to compete for race wins, overall, McLaren have definitely taken a step or two forward. In such a short space of the time, and with the cause of the problem not conclusively proven (at least until very late in the day, as it were), the team deserve a lot of credit. It has been a worrying trend, though, for McLaren, that their cars are rarely fast enough for the beginning of the season, meaning the team have to play catch-up. Imagine if McLaren had the fastest car over the winter and then used their development might to make the car quicker!

Indeed. The tyre-wear problems are also becoming a problem. Once again, with it being the rear tyres, this is going to have a really bad effect on Kovalainen. :(

I disagree. I think they're still (marginally) going to be behind Ferrari, Toyota and BMW Sauber. Of course, they've still got the time between now and Melbourne to add something to the car, so who knows?

Alot of what is released to the press/public regarding a team could just very well be sandbagging by the team, of which I have no issue with, but one thing is foresure the Aussie GP will be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Williams seemed quick today!

I don't think i can remember a season where the form guide at the end of testing is as unpredictable as this! :D

i think mclaren have gained some, but the question is...is it enough? i hope so :)

I think they have made up more ground than people think but its so so so hard to predict whereabouts they will be. Only a week to go now and the possibilty of the winner takes all system being scrapped! Im excited! :D

I hope so too but to be honest i still think they might struggle a bit. Those rear tyres don't seem right :(
