Who cares, they're just numbers.

Hmm. It's what the number represents, though...

If I was an F1 driver, worrying about what number I am would be the least of my worries...

It's not about the number itself. It possesses no intrinsic value. What it indicates is that Ferrari are putting Raikkonen above Massa in the pecking order.

Well of course they put Raikkonen above Massa, Kimi has a world championship and Massa doesnt. I dont think thats the case though, to be honest.

Someone has to have the higher number, so they just gave the world champion of the 2 the higher number?

So Massa was ahead in the pecking order in 2007 by that logic....

He had finished the season placed higher than Raikkonen, so he was higher in the pecking order. Then Raikkonen placed higher in 2007, so was higher in 2008. Out of fairness, Massa should have the better number this season, since he trounced Raikkonen.

Cap-Dude.
I read your posts and there nearly to perfection.
Felipe Massa is one of the greatest drivers i've ever had the pleasure to watch,
if you meet the man he's pleasure to be around.
Last season he Dominated now thts not an understatment. If last season happens this season then we have a new World champion! maybe a new captain. I cant say much because in 2007 i thought Alonso lost his moo and should look at leavin F1 because he couldnt clinch the title. But last season proven me wrong, he drove a non contestant car and brought it to victory. Ths talent. Kimi coul win another needed title, maybe another after that? just to beat Mr.Hakkinens record. But Massa is a much more calm? Cool? Slick driver and this year my Ferari top may just have the Brazillian flg down the side with Massa's Sig on the back. This season will be a test of who is Numero 1? Because last season in my mind he was a champ! this season it will be a test of who is the rel champion out of them both. Ferrari won't tke sides either.
-I lso find it unfir how after Massa's amazing perfomance that he doesn't even come close to Kimi's big salry.

Who cares what number he is. If Massa has any sense this shouldn't bother him in the slightest. I am sure he will be happy to be whatever number they give him as long as he is in a car that can win the title
