He made a lot of silly mistakes last year but so did Kimi and Ham boy.

Aside Silverstone I don`t remember lots of silly mistakes in 2008...

He spun in Australia & in Malaysia.

Yep. these 2 mistakes too...pardon me.

That's so weird, I can't understand why Kimi got Car 3 and Jenson got Car 18. Very odd.

I watched Massa driving around in the number 3 car all last week and Raikkonen in the number 4 car.

Right you are Good Sir

It just seems that the F1 site lists Kimi as 3, but Ferrari list Massa 3. Odd. Not that it matters really. What matters is who out-preforms who this year. A number isn't going to make one slower.

Massa had the 'better' number in '07, so... who really cares?

Other than #1, all numbers are the same.

Whetther Ferrari should go all out behind Kimi or Massa... I think they should let them race for a few races and then think about deciding. Right now there is no point in favouring either. One thing i do feel is that even if Massa has some problems with the car early on, he is most likely to work on them and improve. Whereas Kimi is more likely to rely on how good is the F60.

Thing is nobody knows how improved Massa will be this yr, or how will the F60 fit Kimi  I'm leaning towards Massa, but only slightly.

My feeling is that Ferrari need to prioritise one driver because of the new rules and anyway, it is the best way of winning the WDC because your drivers aren't taking points off each other.

I would favour Kimi because if the team is all behind him from the start, he is going to be at a higher level of motivation and when he is motivated I believe he is one of the outright fastest F1 drivers of all time, and he has excellent racecraft, stamina, and knows how to win a championship. If he is not motivated, the result is what happened last season.

Now with Massa, he's gonna give his all even if the team isn't behind him as much. But even with full support, he is still liable to make mistakes, he does so regardless of his motivation level.
For me, Ferrari stand to gain more by having Kimi as a number one than having Massa as a number one because I don't think Massa looses the will the same way Kimi can do.

Having equal number one status is the classic Ferrari mistake that has cost them so many WDC titles over the years

Who cares, they're just numbers.

Hmm. It's what the number represents, though...

Indeed. I'd find it pretty disheartening if the team insisted on giving me the lower of the two numbers if I had completely thrashed my teammate in the previous season. It would feel like they did not value me as much.

I'd be very annoyed.

If I was an F1 driver, worrying about what number I am would be the least of my worries...

It's not about the number itself. It possesses no intrinsic value. What it indicates is that Ferrari are putting Raikkonen above Massa in the pecking order.
