Being World Champion doesn't always mean you are the best driver on the grid overall, only that you were over the course of a season.
Take 1996 for example. Hill won the title and deserved it, but everyone knew Schumacher was still the superior driver, he was just out of championship contention due to his decision to revitalise Ferrari.

Es por ello que Fernando sigue siendo el número uno.

'97 and Villeneuve, also?

I think Schumacher's only real, fair competition that I saw (as in, he had a car that could compete with his opponents) was Hakkinen.

Your 110% correct - as it was proven in Later years Villeneuve's title was rather complimented due to the amazing effort by Williams in 1997.
Schumacher says himself that Mika was his greatest rival. Although id argue that he wasn't his only fair competition. Alonso, Raikkonen, Montoya, Coulthard, Hill and Villeneuve on their day could all challenge and beat Schumacher. Hakkinen was the only one who could do it consistantly.

So, I'll be cheering for whoever is in front of Hamilton....just to tease Race Chic a bit more when he loses. Hamilton Crashes Out. Hamilton jumps the start. Hamilton pulls into the wrong pit!

yeah yeah we know Bill, you'd cheer on a guinea pig if it was him or Hamilton, it just bugs you so much because he's the best. You missed a few accolades.........
Hamilton beats double world champion as a rookie, Hamilton puts in stunning wet weather race at silverstone, Hamilton pits after clipping wall at monacco but still wins, hamilton voted best driver by F1 team principals, Hamilton, youngest ever F1 champion.

Oh this could be fun.

Hamilton rear ends parked car in the pit lane. Hamilton rear ends Alonso on a straightaway....half a mile from the braking zone. Hamilton runs back marker off the pavement just for the fun of it. Hamilton goes to the beach in pit lane. Hamilton punches pit lane speed button and loses championship. Hamilton files restraining order against internet board stalker.

Hehehe...god I missed F1

Er....... Hamilton IS the world champion despite all those errors you mention. You gonna be suicidal when he has a couple more years experience , devastastingly quick AND no mistakes. You'll have to hide in a corner and cry :hehe:

No I won't. IF he gets to that place, then I will give him the credit he is due. You seem content on giving him the credit before he has earned it. It is cool though, I've had crushes in my life too...so I can understand where you are coming from. I don't believe he will get to a level where his ego doesn't overstep his judgment...but if he does, I will stand corrected...at present though, he is just a mediocre driver who has benefited from being in the superior car for a team who spent unprecedented amounts of money at the end of a season to squeak through a win...something they would not have had to do if he had exercised some judgment during the season....and would have been a repeat victory if he had done so the season prior.

He is a formula one driver so by definition he has the skills. I just don't think he has the patience, the judgment, or the willpower to do so in a car that was not a front runner. I seriously doubt he could have done what Alonso did in the car Alonso had last year. It is all speculation of course...but at this time there are far more mistakes on his part that have cost his team a championship one year, and a fortune the next year.....than there are brilliant efforts on his part. I have seen him driver very well...and I've seen him drive like a twat that I would stuff into a wall. At present, the latter outnumbers the former. Maybe as he ages he will turn into the driver you think he is now.....but I find it unlikely.

Well fair enough, thats your opinion and only time will tell who is right. I think some of your facts are incorrect and you contradict yourself.Mediocre he certainly is not and he has phonomenal willpower, this is all he has wanted to do from the age of 5 and its what hes worked towards from then on.Yes there are areas he needs to work on and i know what they are, I do not think he is anything he is not , I know exactly what he is.

No driver is flawless. Even Schumacher made mistakes.

Of course. I should have said fewer mistakes. Schumacher made plenty!

Best in your opinion of course. You should make that clear racechick then you wouldn't get caught up in as many conflicts.

:wavey: EwmanM, just who the heck else's opinion could it possibly be if its coming out of my mouth??? Or rather being typed by my fingers....just the two of them!! I thought that would have gone without saying. Apparantly not.

Anyway, forums would be boring sad places without conficts

I like Gilles27's views. Pretty insightful...

By the way:
Today I saw an old GP Story show about Montoya and i find he was not chubby during his F1 yrs.
He may be chubby now... but that's cause he's retired to couch driving, i mean Nascar...

I think we are a bit too harsh on Juan Pablo... he faced one of the toughest car ever.

I always liked him, I remember watching him in F3000 and thinking he looked pretty special. He had everything apart from the brain to be F1 champ. He was plenty fast but he made poor decisions and didn't have them mental agility of a Schumacher or the mental stamina and coolness of a Raikkonen.

Yes, but the vibe I get is that "Lewis is number one and everyone else is all wrong"

From Ferrari's Usual Line Up's.
You Have
Driver 1- Over Ambitous,Cool,Slick,Out standing driver.- Kimi -
Driver 2- The lovly, cool,Nice,Freindly loving driver. -Massa-
Driver 3- A Talented driver tht only tests? -Luca-

Ferrari's Line up. Massa is not going any where anytime soon.
Lewis is a good lil nerd.....Kimi maybe a sausage to some of u lot?
but he has brought a genuine character to the grid. So the only
person that even cuts the back of the teeth to come close to Kimi
is Alonso.

As i quote from Bud
you have F1 sheep, they believe and believe because of a few facts.
Now lets get a few things straight.
Anyone i annoy, please accept my appoligy.
Now racechick, Jenny has the same engine as lewis, the so called great?
no why is he outpacing him by miles? The body work? no.
That comes in around 15% the real reason is that JB is a superior driver,
Is because he is slick driver, smooth and ambitous. he has the whole package.
So soon when you see JB on a stright? A Corner, Corner 1, Jenny slips round the side
Brawn mouth open, Rubbens coming up, JB & RB racing eachother, LH is going defensive.
Wait? Wait? H went too deep, ohhhhhh he JB & RB just drive by.
Now some of you are thinking. Damn he Could make a mistake like that.
End of.
Now last season? HA! u have to be joking? the superior driver was Massa?
Now if you read a so called article, Toyota despise FERRARI*
you really think they would let Massa win the title on home soil?
no. So while you was le oh my gosh he's won? No. U support a child who has
the lolly gave to him too much?
Britain prefere JB, its just Britain got it way too easy with Lewis.
I guarentee when JB wins a title you will all go oh my.
Change Avatar? Then Sig. He has talent? yeah.
But when it comes down to what makes a tue chmpion? he dont even cut the edges.
Massa is a true sportsman. I give him alot of credit for ccepting defeat?
chering the crowd on? No....Your ust a lil LH sheep that thinks his amazing until
Britain are sick of him. Then he can Piss of too the US. My dad supported him.
Then he realised what a twat he was and jumped on the JB train in Brazil.
