Alonso just had a bad race, maybe unlucky with the penalty but otherwise he messed it up all by himself. With comments like that he's not gonna win many new fans is he?

If he'd have done what LH did off the start line in Monaco instead of trying to get past straight away he could've got Mclaren another one two (and could've won himself). Thought he seemed a bit too eager to beat Hamilton there.

It's a good thing that Alonso screwed up his race. It's nice to see a change on the podium.

if you look past your emotionalism and look into the facts you will see Fernando pitted on lap 23 as scheduled and Lewis pitted on lap 22 as scheduled.Pitlane was closed on lap 23 Fernando and Nico got a penalty for coming in on their scheduled laps. Fernando had no other choice as Norbert has pointed out as he would have run out of fuel if he stayed out for one more lap.

so from Fernando's point of view Lewis was "lucky" compared to him for not getting penalised! he didnt say he was lucky he won, he never said if not for the safety car he would have won! stop making more out of comments made to the media ffs F1 fans are like a bunch of pansy girl celebrtity magazine readers!

say Fernando chose to stop on lap 22 and lewis chose 23 prior to Q Lewis would have gotten the stop go.

There was no luck involved, LH out drove Alonso from start to finish.

Alonso was rattled and flustered and drove accordingly.

LH praising Alonso is just rubbing it in even more.

If I were Alonso I wouldn't have wanted to be alongside a Brit in a British Team, reason why Schumacher never wanted an Italian Team-Mate, regardless of skill nationality is always going to be favourite with the fans and give that extra something with politics...

demure he never said he would have won if not for the drive through he only said lewis was lucky with the lap he pitted as i said on lap 22 compared to fernando when the safetycar came out on lap 23 his scheduled lap for his pitstop.

now dunno if people know but in a pre Q breifing the drivers would get a choice on fuel loads and what strategies to take as to not clash with each other for pitstops. Now obviously they both went for a similar fuel load with Fernando choosing one extra lap to pit over Lewis. as it turned out that extra lap killed his race. thus luck was involved good or bad depends on whose side you see it from!
i didnt read anywhere Alonso say he would have won if not for that.

end of story, although im sure everyone will continue to make more out of nothing as per usual

OK that's fine bud, as long as he didn't say LH was lucky to win, I agree with what your saying.

I've just gone and read Alonso's comments and the bbc's interpretation was Alonso saying Hamiliton was lucky to win, however Alonso actually said:

"Lewis's win is good for the team. But it was very lucky as well as were on similar strategies and if the safety car came out one lap before Lewis's stop we would have been eighth or ninth."

However just before this, Alonso says:

"From the first moment, I wasn't completely comfortable. I am in an English team, with an English team-mate, who is doing brilliantly."

Sookie sookie la la Alonso, you are being outclassed by a rookie and should have realised this before you signed...

well when he signed they had JPM and Kimi still in the team so teaming up with one of them would have been no walk over with Pedro as a tester, probably a prefered teammate. But Lewis hadnt even won a GP2 crown yet and talk of driving for McLaren for 07 only started coming after his stellar 06 GP2 season.
But its like anything if there was an Italian say Rossi partnered with Kimi or Massa at Ferrari i think Rossi would be the favoured driver due to his nationality in that team too. its human nature, just like you love me for being Aussie demure :P

Alonso should take a leaf out of Kimi's book, when it comes to saying things to reporters... and Martin Brundle :D

How come Ron Menace has banned the press from talking to Hamilton, but not Alonso? THAT's favouritism, if ever I saw it!

Ron allows Alsonso to talk so we can have more "stupid things coming out of Alsonso's mouth", plus Ron knows he will probably say something more stupid but the attention will be on Alsonso.

http://www.formula1home.com wrote:">I heard the whole interview. Nothing as bad as it came out in the news.

After a long conversation they asked Fernando if he perceived that his victories for McLaren were not celebrated the same way as the one from Lewis. His response was that he did not see the celebrations. That he was pulled out by the press. Then he said it was something that he kind of expected because it is a British driver in a British team.

They read a bunch of headlines from British news papers and he said he did not care much about it. He repeated the British driver and British team thing. That it was always made him uncomfortable. Then he said he is where he wanted to be. He mentioned that he would rather be where he is instead of finishing 8 or 9 at Renault. He said all he wanted to do was to go out a win races. He never mentioned that Lewis was given a better treatment.

The interview took place on Monday. The general tone was friendly. No bad blood or bad mood on Alonso’s part. I think this is case of something blown out of proportion.

Brutus speaks Spanish and heard the original interview, as per usual people making something out of nothing. something alot of people on here seem to like do. especially the Ferrari Schumacher sheep when it comes to Fernando Alonso

Why would the Ferrari "Sheep" be upset about Alonso?

Schumi is waiting for a new megastar to emerge and he's going to come back to racing and own him, just to prove one last point...

Because he beat the so called god of Schu in 06 and has won the last two titles, are you not aware of the bitterness that all the Schumacher sheep have towards him? its rampant on this forum!

Before Nando even signed for McLaren i had no beef with him winning the title over Kimi in 05 fair game he is a good driver and deserved it. something that you would never hear come from a sheep when they talk about Fernando winning over their favourite eat a cake material in 06

I am one of your so called Schumacher "sheep", well, I am a fan of his however I recognise his flaws and his "win at all costs" attitude. I'm not ashamed to say it's what made him exciting to watch. His questionable moves sometimes upset me but you can't expect everything from a driver.

I have no beef with Alonso, Schumi got beaten fair and square and if he did want to continue driving he probably needed a fresh challenge with a fresh team.
