I know that tests don't mean much...but still...

Was the weather ? the cold ? luck ? Or Ross Brawn was right when he said that Honda would have a winning car in 2009 ?
The first impression about the BGP 001 is really good.
Jenson Button was the fastest yesterday(monday, march 9) in Barcelona.

Button finished the first part of the works with the fastest lap - 1min 21s 140 - and the most important, with no mechanical problems registered.
The britanic driver made a good advantage on Trulli (the 2nd) - 1min 21s 737.

There were more surprises at following positions. After lots of tests at last positions, Piquet was the third, followed by Sutil.Bourdais was another one who was faster than expected with the new STR4 by Toro Rosso. The french driver was 0.1 s faster than Webber - driving the main team, RBR -
Nakajimama ,driving a Williams was the 7th.

And at the last 3 positons, the 3 best cars of 2008.
Heidfeld was 8th, followed by Raikkonen, who ran only 25 laps, and Kovalainen - who drove a completly adapted version of MP4-24 to 2009 - previously the car used the 2008 rear wings, and the tires of 2009.

Mclaren, by the way, isn't doing very well at these initial tests...
Let's see.
Im really anxious, I'm expecting a great competitive season for this year.

It's possible that they're fast. It's also possible that they need to set fast times to attract sponsorship. Tyrrell used to do this. I'm not suggesting that special quick times have been done, but we shouldn't rule it out.

yeah thats possible but i think they are legit times, I think Brawn knew he had developed a good car enough so he put his own money into it. Its good to see a guy thats on the technical team be the team owner! Its like its straight from a bygone era 8-)

Nice to see that Brawn GP is progressing nicely and as Bruno_Brazil stated it seems we could be in for a very competative year amongst many more teams than in the past. :)

Highly unlikely, they simply don't have the time for that. Sponsors can and will bail if the team is nowhere a couple races into the deal (It's highly likely they'd insert performances clauses with a team in this position) so mis-leading them about the pace and as a result sacrificing development time (Thereby lowering potential pace) would be supremely unwise.

That being said, winter testing is meaningless. The most we can learn from this is the car is not slow.

Guess what?

It wasn't Michael Schumacher's god-like abilities in the Fezza after all.

Let's just unwind theat hype some now shall we?

How about lets unwind some of the hype that MS had nothing to do with the success he had with Brawn?
