I'm really looking forward to seeing how they go. It's nice that there's twenty cars on the grid, and I'm especially happy that button has a drive this season. He's a bloody good driver when he tries.

Hmm, Button fastest in the morning test?! That is very promising - although you have to take into account fuel loads etc.

Still, better than being plumb last, eh?!

They could of just de-balasted and lighted up the car to do it ofcourse but i don't think brawn would be assed about doing a glory lap.

To be fair the car (esspecialy the front wing) looks very developed.

so looking for them.

I don't think Brawn would do a glory lap setup unless he is desperate for sponsors and money. He has already said that the team hasn't got that much time for the essential work they need to do.

Brawn GP still awaiting FIA approval
Monday 9th March 2009

Brawn GP are reportedly still waiting for the FIA to approve their use of Mercedes engines in this year's Championship.

Under F1 regulations a car manufacturer may only supply engines to two teams, needing the approval of the FIA should they wish to supply a third. And with McLaren and Force India already using Mercedes engines, new team boss Ross Brawn has had to ask the FIA to okay his team using the same power units.

But according to Mercedes boss Norbert Haug, Brawn GP, who are testing with Merc engines at Barcelona this week, are still waiting for a response.

"Brawn is waiting for the approval of the engine deal from FIA, and hopefully will get it," he told Auto Motor und Sport.

"We believe that the continued existence of the team is very important; especially during the current economic climate. It is important to make sure that Formula One should not only have eighteen cars lining up on the grid."

:yikes: Let's hope the FIA post approval sooner rather than later.

They will get it no one in F1 can afford to lose a team at the moment!

Yeah. It definitely doesn't mean Jenson's going to be a sure thing for the Oz win, but it does mean the car is at least respectable out of the box, which can only be a good thing.

is that a new F1 rule about providing 2 teams?

I assume so, it's the first I've heard of it.

Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense if it is, what with the whole "supply cheap engines to the smaller teams" thing.

And it doesn't make since as Ferrari were running three teams at one point.. Their own, Spyker/Force India, and Torro Rosso. If the FIA ruled against it, it would be splitting hairs if you asked me..

If the FIA ruled against it, the FOTA would call a general Strike

they could always that they are supplying themselves and 2 other teams.

I think Ferrari had special permission to provide 2 other teams with engines and that's what Mercedes will have to get. I don't foresee a problem as everybody wants Brawn Racing to be on the grid in Australia.

It would be farcical if the FIA don't approve it :banghead: .

It will be interesting to see how things progress with 30% of the cars on the grid running with Merc engines subject to FIA approval.

It would be confusing if FIA would not approve that - they are telling to auto manufacturers to supply cheap engines for small teams, and now they would not approve engine deal :banghead: Wish only the best for Ross and his team!!!
