 Stop it man your killing me! I believe the key word here would be 'evolution' . Please carry on because frankly no question is a silly one and how would one not know or learn if they did not ask right? :)

TBH the question just amuses me. I am sure that a lot of people just take the p**s cos they can not answer.

Darwins theories I find interesting. I just do not believe that it took so long for human race to come up with the theory.

That is human nature and frankly no one has the true answer's.

Darwins theories set a standard and I am a firm believer in them yet you must understand that human's only utilize about 25% of their brain. Concerning why you think it took so long for the human race to come up with the theory could be due to our evolutionary progress which could actually be very slow considering the power we have yet to realize as a race? I constantly learn something from my best buddy Max, my dog, as to how we became a dominant species which was by manipulation and playing upon a species survival instinct's.

Now did we come from the Monkeys and Apes? Hell yes because DNA proves it and I have a HUGE sense of pride, respect and a primitive bond with them. I feel VERY strongly about this subject, our primate relatives, and want to discuss and learn as much as I can.

but back to the original question. if you follow Darwins theory, Monkeys where not monkeys when we where monkeys. as in from a species both humans and monkeys where descended from at some point asked themselves a question "Am I gonna live in a tree?"

Yes,I want to live in a tree, then it is probably best to have a tail to help you balance, it is cold in a tree so keep your fur.

No, I want to live on the ground, Loose the tail what use is it? Ooh a nice warm cave, looks like I don't need fur.

why stop at Monkey's? you wanna know the descendants of all Mammals and not just Humans? hmmm what about the descendant of all Vertebrates? To give your answer on Human evolution one must come to terms with all evolution and how it works

Monkey was just an example, plus it is an more common misconception, as we share 99% of our DNA with a banana.

It's more like 50%. Chimps and humans share around 98.7%.
