Old Dawkins talks alot of sense. And I do lean of course to his criticism of creationism. However as much as there are extremists in Religion you find it in all walks of life. I'm not exactly a practicing Christian, but I do believe there is alot of good and alot good people who rely on religion in all forms. Some people want to be guided, no matter if it is all fiction.

Ted Haggard what a doosh.

Who later that year was found out to be soliciting the services of rent boys. People like Haggard can only be described as frightening. There is no reasoning with them at all.

It would be an injustice to Dawkins just to focus on his views on religion - there is a hell of a lot more to him that - but, saying as we're on the issue now, I do agree with his views entirely. Irrational, non-evidence based superstitions are making a comeback, and are quite literally putting the world in peril.

Despite this being true, it doesn't mean to say religion is entirely bad though.

I didn't say religion was necessarily bad. Discussions like these really demonstrate how many people think. Everything has to be a binary opposite: if you criticise religion, you must automatically think it has no positives as well. This type of thinking stifles discussion.

Well I know there are positives and negatives to both sides of the argument. I'm not one of these people.

Religion - the greatest fishermans tale of the all.

Well it might of made sense 200 years ago when everyone was living in s*** conditions and were asking themselfs "is this it" but somone comes and goes there's a heaven if you just do as your told as a good pleb.

All Religion is and ever will be is a means of control.

Yup, or as Karl Marx put it: opium of the people.
