No we must also realize that if bare C/F or a honeycomb monoque was left unfinished the obvious imperfections in it's surface would cause aero issues, right? So there in lies one of the advantages to a SLICK paint job, the smoother the application should mean fewer coats which means what, duh less WEIGHT!!!!

The paint on F1 cars is already hovering around 50-80 microns. That's about 10ltrs of paint for the whole car, including primer, build and topcoat! There's not a lot of scope for weight saving, maybe around 5kg's at the most.
