Actually, if I'm being totally honest, buying Honda would be a great move. You have Ross Brawn - someone who has a proven track record of designing championship winning cars, Button - who on a good day is up there with the best, and Senna - who would bring so many top end sponsors, plus the fact that he is (or we at least think) undeniably quick.

You would be stupid not to at least think about it. Everything is there for a championship winning team. I just won't be something that happens straight away. Realistically we're talking 2010/11, with everything going to plan, for them to mixing with the top two/three teams.

Some speculation moving about that Virgin is the mystery late bidder. Adrina eynard's involved with that apparently. MAkes some sense, it was his team (sort off) for a bit.

If true then Fry would be shown the door & 'cos Ade's no bad designer possibly Brawn too.

I'm just about to start a rumour off that the team will be renamed not Virgin F1 but F1UK.

From Grand Prix.com:

Could it be Virgin?

There are rumours that the new bidder for Honda could be the Virgin Group, the venture capital firm that is headed by Sir Richard Branson. This specialises in travel, entertainment and lifestyle products. The company is estimated to be worth $8bn. The broad-ranging empire is not all doing well at the moment with the Virgin Atlantic airline announcing a reduction in its workforce by up to 600 jobs but other businesses doing very well. The lure of F1 is not obvious, apart from as a brand-building exercise, but it could be related to Virgin Fuel. Branson says he is investing $1bn in alternative fuels for cars and airliners. Using F1 would be a good way to promote the idea.

Virgin has been operating since the early 1970s when Richard Branson first launched the Virgin record label, shops, followed by a film company, games, the airline in 1984, holidays, airships, hotels, radio stations, books, cola, vodka, trains, cosmetics, mobile phones, internet access and space travel. Virgin announced its diversification into new fuels in 2006.

The most interesting element of any potential bid for Honda's F1 team is that Branson has expressed an interest in motor racing before. in 1997 he said that Virgin would fund the British Grand Prix if it was run without any tobacco sponsorships. In 2000 Branson appeared in Monaco as a guest of his friend, next door neighbour and business partner Adrian Reynard, as the Reynard company was at the time designing seats for Virgin Atlantic airliners. Two years later there was a small sponsorship deal from Virgin Mobile for Eddie Jordan.

The most intriguing idea is that Branson might be involved in a bid to put Reynard in charge of the team of which he was one of the founders and a shareholder in the early days. Reynard still owns the land on which the team's factories are built and is believede to own one of the two buildings as well, although these are leased to the team. Reynard and Branson have long been pals and he is one of the founding members of Virgin Galactic, Branson's companmy dedicated to taking normal (rich) people into space.

I like Branson - he's got good ideas, is successful at what he's doing and his head is screwed on right.

Branson buying Honda's F1 team and bringing Reynard and Brawn aboard, powered by Mercedes engines. Adrian Newey has wind of something, could he be working for a Branson F1 team in 2010.

From F1 Live:

Petrobras, the former Williams sponsor and supplier that was set to switch to Honda in 2009, has ruled out becoming involved with the Brackley-based team's new guise.

It has been reported that, with Brazilian rookie Bruno Senna at the wheel, the Rio-based energy company as well as Embratel might support the Nick Fry and Ross Brawn-led attempted management buyout.

But even though a deal was believed to have been in place for Petrobras to sponsor Honda this year, the Japanese manufacturer's shock withdrawal from the sport voided the contract.

Petrobras' head of sponsorship Claudio Thompson is quoted by Brazil's TV Jornal as saying he has ‘no idea’ where the most recent speculation came from.

Senna, meanwhile, confirmed that he has ‘good chances’ to race with the Brackley team in 2009 if it survives, but insisted that "no contracts have been signed with anyone."

The Brazilian newspaper O Globo, meanwhile, carried an official statement from Petrobras, with Thompson insisting the company is not interested in a solely commercially-based relationship with a team.

"When Honda announced it was leaving Formula One, we also decided to stop because all the teams funded by automakers already have fuel suppliers for 2009," the statement read.

Petrobras also said it is not interested in sponsoring individual drivers.

Meanwhile, Honda Team Principal Ross Brawn told the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport: "The less that is spoken, the greater the chance that we can save the project."

If this team doesn't make it to the grid in Australia it's value will drop considerbly. Why then would any potential purchaser be in a rush?

Yes, it sounds like an absolute rubbish and false lie. But all the same, please beardy brandson, but the team.
A) the Livery wouldn't be too bad B) the Guys loaded and would bring plenty of money to the team and sponsors. C)If someone doesn't buy the damn team now I'm gonna lose it

Also, Brandson is a pretty active extremist. The guy loves speed and danger. F1's calling.
