Yes, that's the worrisome part of the story - I don't care if by their ingenuity the cars are a bit faster, one should be rewarded for clever engineering. However, if it directly affects the other cars who follow, that's a different matter...

Let' face it, the legality of any part depends upon the ferocity and power of the lawyers involved.

Maybe both teams involved have appied innteligent thought procesess to gain an advantage via the rules.

I'm actually happy that they've been declared as legal. It means Williams shouldn't (assuming it isn't declared illegal in Melbourne) have to re-design their car, maybe giving them a fighting chance this season. I just worry that, if they have to change it, it's all over for the FW31 :/

That's exactly why I'm hoping it's declared legal, Williams had a similar problem with their diffuser for the 2003 FW25 and because they had to redesign it, it took a while before the car became competitive that year. Hopefully if it is legal and seen as just innovation, it'll be the other teams that have to play catchup.
