that would be awesome! the US needs to feel a presence in the sport for it to be fully embraced over there. I know it hasnt worked out too well with the A1 and no doubt it would be hard for them to be successful straight away but hopefully it helps get races back in North America.

wonder what powerplant they will run... would have to be an American... could they rebadge the standard Cossie engine to Ford even though they no longer share lineage?

One concern I would have is that perhaps they would just look to American talent and bring in more Scott Speeds instead of actually looking for the best drivers in the world. I know it is only a small chance that this would happen but still is a possibility.

Good point, but unfortunately Scott Speed was rubbish. The only ever decent American F1 drivers in my view were Dan Gurney, Mario Andretti, Eddie Cheever and perhaps the late Phil Hill - although he was racing a long time before I was born.

I think they need a relatively unknown to try out for a seat..... Me!!!! It would be great if they had tryouts and a walk-on got a seat...

Ford may make an F1 engine for them, who knows?

my bet is they will go for merc, or ferrari and if not them then toyota

I would put a decent amount of cash on the latest Andretti (Marco?) to test for them at least in the future, if they do indeed get a team together.

The more the merrier. Seriously, we need some more teams.
But thinking of american driver, none really come to mind. Really, the should look to Canada. Robert Wickens is a pretty interesting driver.

hmmm,
of course it would be good to have a USA team, USA engineers....But, i do hope it dosnt bring national jingoism into the sport. I know it exists to a degree in the media, but for the most part formula one is not concerned with nationality. Im not a big fan of having a country in the team name...that equally applies to force india of course.
Im not sure just how much open wheel race car manufacture experiance there is in the usa...perhaps someone could expand on that

I had forgotten about him as burt pointed out. He was probably the best of the lot.

Of the names mentioned in the article, I only recognize Peter Windsor. I'm sure it would take a couple of seasons before the team became competative, but it be interesting to see how a new team builds itself under the current formula and economic conditions. I'd rather they didn't buy Honda or Toro Rosso for that matter, but start from the ground up, totally new...
