I saw on the news earlier that the temperatures are starting to cause some serious problems. Trains have been cancelled, there are power cuts, bush fire and twenty-two people died of heatstroke.

In all fairness 40c and dry is more comfortable than some of the 40+c with humidity we experience here in Texas, especially here on the Gulf Coast, on a yearly basis as it is the norm. Give me cold and rainy anyday over the heat and humidity.

yeah dry heat is alot more bearable than a humid heat. thankfully Adelaide SA has a really dry heat but its still sweltering to go outside, unless you like to sweat and get all icky and sticky :hehe:

Humid heat is really uncomfortable, but dry heat is a lot more dangerous; you dehydrate very easily and then there's whole forest fire stuff...

If it snows anymore during the night getting to work could be quite a problem in the morning.

Im not at work because we have had the worst ICE Storm in 6yrs today. I am working from home. It sucks!!!!

I believe my brother is in your neck of the woods working as he runs a crew that installs and repairs powerlines and such. All I know is that at 12pm I was fishing and it was a sunny 75 degree's and then around 5pm the temp had dropped almost 20 degree's.

You may want to convert those temps into Celsius for the majority of our members here  - Fahrenheit is such a retarded way of measuring temps
I'm running a futile crusade against it on a daily basis :banghead:

So: 24 degrees C and a drop of around 11.

Celcius and Fahrenheit are both retarded. kilometers and Miles are much easier to figure out. An F1 car can go about 340kph.. That's hella fast in mph

Au contraire my friend: Celsius is metric and has a logical basis: 0 C is when water (the most abundant and important compound for life on Earth) freezes - and it boils at 100 C. Compare this to the arbitrary 32 F for the freezing point and 212 F for boiling (WTF!?). :banghead:

I actually prefer miles over kilometers. Why? You do about 60 miles per hour on average when you travel - an hour has 60 minutes, so it's very easy to estimate the time it takes to go to a place 45 miles away. Try that with kilometers and it's a bit more involved.

Yeh, but kilometers makes it sound faster lol

Personally I prefer Kelvin lol. So absolute zero would be -273 Degrees Celsius. Kelvin is a better method in my opinion

Also it is very cold here. Hopefully it snows tomorrow so my english exam is off

Kelvin would be the 'logical' unit to use, but it's far from practical - the absolute zero of -273.15 degrees Celsius never occurs on Earth (not even in labs where they get very close to it). The Celsius scale based (traditionally) on when water freezes and boils makes much more practical sense.

We get a couple of inches of snow and the whole country grinds to a standstill. Other countries get weather much worse than what we are experiencing and things continue to operate as normal. The United Kingdom is a laughingstock once again. I don't know why we keep the 'Great' in Great Britain.
