I just hope we don't see any more of those ugly shark fins like the one Red Bull introduced.

Ahem:

Good thing they hired Adrian Newey near the end of the 1990s. :hehe:

As strange as it seems, I actually quite like the shape of the car. Why? I don't really know myself, to be honest.

It's probably because the 1996 car was a total monstrosity. :P

Something i found quite intresting when reading racing line is that Pat Fry says the design of the MP4-24 is more about flexibility within the design than getting the ultimate performance from the new regulations. So could this help them develop the car faster throughout the season?

Are you a McLaren member also?

i think you could be right, its about extracting as much from every step along the way and being able to evolve the design and not hit a dead end straight away.

I'd like to see the airbox fins banned. The airboxes look much nicer in their natural shape.

I think they have. You're probably getting them confused with the T-cams on top of the airbox.

nope...

Yes i'm a McLaren member :D

I guess the flexibility will help them develop the car in any direction they choose to do so.

McLaren's idea could also be to have a car that is a great all-rounder rather than trying to have the best one or two particular areas of the car on the grid. This seems to be the McLaren philosophy at the moment, as evidenced with the MP4-22 -23. Those cars may not have had the outright pace of the Ferraris, but they were easier to set up, handled well at most circuits and conditions. Cars that have done that are generally pretty effective. The Ferrari F2002 and F2004 were designed in a similar manner. There was nothing extra special with each bit of the car, but it all came together very well.
