We are getting closer to the Inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States of America. Media coverage is now converging on the event and thats about all you can get on TV outside the coverage of the airliner that went down and everyone survived. Today was Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday and it seem to be the perfect time for the Inauguration. I so hope that his term in office is successful not only for the US but for the world as well.

lol well all we've had in the UK today from America is pictures of Obama helping decorate a homeless shelter?
Tomorrow will be an historic day indeed, certainly a new dawn in American politics regardless of the consequences.

I cant wait to see Bush leaving the White House. I hope Obama doesnt become the typical arsehole politician we're used to seeing, because a lot of people see him as the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Tomorrow will be a great, and historic day for the United States.

I agree, but I believe he is setting the right expectation that things won't change overnight, and things might get worse before they get better. He has about six months to make the country believe that he is on the right track and motivate people to get moving.

I just wish every other commercial was not a Barack Obama commemerative plate, or Kennedy half-dollar or gold encrusted two dollar bill with the likeness of B. Obama. This is the most historic, but most commercial Inauguration ever..

Indeed his presidency will be a long haul. The economy is in tatters and what actions America takes will effect the rest of the world. What's more It will be interesting to see how the "special relationship with the UK" evolves under Obama. It is not an easy task, but people are harping on about this being another "new deal" style inauguration. I'm not so sure. It is too over hyped. Historic this is, Obama will be judged by his policy - not his rock concerts.

All I can say is good luck to him because he is gonna need it!! I think if he sticks to the principals that he outlined in the campaign he will be a great president. Lets hope that power doesn't corrupt him like it did to W.

At the moment in America, expectations are pretty low and there seems to be a lot of goodwill towards Obama. Hopefully things stay like that.
