what I meant was the drivers input and not the 'test drivers' input. So in '08 imho I believe Alonso and Hamilton were the best and made the most of it among the top teams/drivers.

I do not think Hamilton is that good at giving the team feedback. I think Mclaren has stuggled this year with development (I am not saying they did a bad job just that I think they could of done better) If you look at the 2 main drivers they have only just completed 2 seasons each. still not a big amount of experience. Maybe Alonso last year made all the development decisions, so this year Lewis struggled slightly with it.

Ferrari I think has also struggled, as Kimi can on his day drive the wheels of anything, sometimes I think he does not know how to make the car faster because it all feels good to him (does that make sense?!??!)

It does help that they have De la Rosa imo, however i seem to remember McLaren having a major upturn in form around Britian/Germany time, which was also the same time they made a lot of upgrades... i would probably say that they didn;t 'struggle', they just didn't have the very best person available to them anymore.

Its true MS was ussually in much better situations within the team and pts wise during his Cship campaings. And while Alonso may be a bit inmature off the track or with some situations, on the track he's rarely made silly mistakes or cracked under pressure. In fact his 07 season was proof that he could handle adversities and still have a darn competitive season. Remember, regardless the reasons, Lewis was in a much more confortable position with Mclaren in 07.

I think i believe Briatore, although he is probably making these comments as a way to keep his team and driver motivated. And of course, we are probably talking about a really slight margin anyways...

Flavio has him lined up for a Transfer to QPR if 09 goes wrong for him.

Of course, Heikki is actually very good at giving feedback. It was said many of the mechanics over at McLaren love Heikki for that very reason. Unfortunately, the car was built for Lewis, and was far from Kovy's liking. But we'll see how things pan out in 2009.

I think it is possibly because of the name.

If Senna gets into F1 and he is poo, people willl want to give him more of a chance. Me included.

I think what also saved Piquet's backside was that he looked like a good prospect in the junior formulae. His performances in British Formula Three and GP2 merited giving him another chance, in my view. In terms of Senna, his name will count for an awful lot (and has already done him a lot of favours), but his progression through the junior formulae with his parents not allowing him to race etc. certainly shows he has some talent and would be worth giving him another chance if things did not work out in his rookie season.
