I reckon there will be more than 1 scandal next year.

I suggest we can look forward , if that's the right phrase, to the following:-

- Whatever Nigel Stepney/Rubins Barrichello have to tell us in their books. Can't believe the world isn't ready for these now.

- Bernie's business methods being exposed to the public as a result of his divorce/battle with the teams/CVC/the FIA. Might even be some SFO interest here.

- I am struggling to belive that Max can keep it in his trousers & not get caught for much longer. His operation in Euston must be fascinating the tabloids right now too. Probably the Vice Squad as well.

- Some more dodgy stewarding just to get the teams fighting each other. Divide & conquer rules eh Max/Bernie?

Any other suggestions?

I believe Stepney and Barrichello's books will reveal the biggest Ferrari/FIA scandals. Bernie will try and do his best to get his divorce on the front pages of the tabloids.

Team bosses vs. F1 owners

Somebody running an illegal KERS system? Could happen, seeing as the performance per lap is going to be limited. One of the teams further back might see an opportunity with it.

It's new & thus the opportunities are rife for naughtiness but as the FIA probably don't have a clue how to police it how is anybody going to get caught?

I think you are right about KERS causing headlines F1 doesn't need though, be it from cheating, finding your car is better off without it, crashing a KERS equiped car & causing carnage, it being dropped for 2010 & thus nullifying the investments made be the teams in it to date. Somehow, it'll be in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Telemetry. I'm pretty sure they'd be able to monitor how much of a boost was given through the ECU.

And its driver controlled thefore it would driver error.

And penalties galore would be dished out by the stewards. If only there was a system that would stop the driver using too much KERS boost. And because Kinetic energy is infinite, the driver never runs out of the potential to use it - notwithstanding the reliability of the KERS device - whereas back in the Turbo era drivers would risk running out of fuel in the dying laps if they used too much boost. Either that or the Turbo would literally go up in smoke.

For the electrical systems it's easy enough to monitor the voltage and current to and from the cells and there'll be a control unit or it, for the mechanical (flywheel) if you monitor the revs of the flywheel you can tell the energy going in and out of it and again there'll be some control system for the cvt. I would assume that the devices and the monitoring and logging equipment will be under the same scrutiny as any other parts of the cars.
That being said I won't be at all surprised if anyone is looking how to interpret the regulations to gain any advantage but that could be a bit of a risk if there's a chance of amendments to the regs for such an integral part of the car.
